question after suspension fitting

when having my suspension fitted one of my arb drop links was broken. got a new one from gsf today and feels loads stronger than the ones off the car. should i get the other one replaced as well so both are new or wont it make a blind bit of difference. also my car has now got serious torque steer, is this likely to be tracking or wheels alinment or the fact its now lower and stiffer on the front?

You probably should get the other one done, not much money and will put your mind at rest as the rubber bushes in these can go.

I replaced mine with uprated ones in coilover pack, slightly shorter.

As to tracking, this needs correcting as you might be getting torque steer because track is off??

bloody loads of torque steer lol ive got another drop link from gsf so will fit that at weekend. will it need wheel alignment or just tracking doing do you think?

Just tracking, don't let them fob you off with 4 wheel as the suspension doesn't have camber adjustment on rear, I got caught the hard way and paid for 4 wheel!

cool cheers thinking about it there is only tracking that can be changed anway everything else it solid with no adjustment

i would replace the other drop link personally as the standard 1's are normally slightly longer.

with reguards to the torque steer this can be improved with the wheel alignment but as said the rear is not adjustable BUT there is slight agdjustment in the axle bolts and this can be adjusted!!!!!

this wont sort the torquesteer out tho matey it is definatly essential you get it done tho as youve had all your suspension changed!

it actually really bad if i plant it in second the wheel turns about 90 degrees lol

4 wheel alignment will still be better than just front alignment even though there is no real adjustment in the rear as they will track the front to the back axle so the car runs straight.

had few problems now sorted out went to have front traking done today place i went to did there thing drove off got few hundred yards car was pulling to the right with steering wheel straight and to go straight wheel was well turned to the left! so got my money back and got laser alingned to the back wheels and is now spot on. tracking was out by 12mm and nearly wrecked a tyre in 10days but all sorted now and all is good

i think it was made worse at the other place to be honest as steering wheel was further out after they tried setting it up

so when the other place done your tracking and you drove it off didnt you think hang on its fcuk'd didntthey offer to fix it for you??? at least its sorted now!


have you given the suspension a good testing yet?

i went right back and they siad it needs laser aligning and gave me money back and told me a place that would do it! yes suspension was tested last weekend scared myself but tracking wouldnt have helped that!

The suspension kit is awsome, i had it on my car, and boy did it tick all my boxes, A, because i didnt want coilovers, and b because of the price. When pushed it handled brilliantly.I occasionally had it on 3 wheels when pushed hard, and when pushed stupidly hard once, around a 90 degree corner, that the road kinda had a bump half way around as it tightend up i had the car on 2 wheels im pretty sure of it. Gaz knows what my car was like round the bends, alon with many other SCN'rs who have had a passanger ride in my car.

its very hard going over small bumps lots of teeth shattered but great around the bends and no dipping under breaking and lifting when accelerating so smoother ride in that instance

with the 4 wheel alignmen and 2 wheel aliment questions its the same thing just if its the 2 wheel salignment the rear isnt adjusted but if the rear is knocked out of position it will throw the front settings out!

can sometimes get the rear readings inwith slackning all the bolts and a huge leaver bar to position it diffrently in the bushes ect.

my coilovers arent bad at all over sharp smal bumps it when im on country uneven roads and there is loads of bumps and dips and slants it handles well but it throws you around a bit but i like that coz im weird! adds to the fun
