Hey guys, I've just installed my sony CDX-T69 6 CD Autochanger into my 56 Fr, however when I try and control the headunit now through the steering wheel controls nothing happens.

I'm not sure weather the cd changer can be used with the steering controls, but changing modes (to RDS, CD, AUX etc) and skipping tracks/radio stations, increase/decreasing volume I should still be able to do in for example radio mode......

Unless I've taken one of the wires out?

I obviously had to take the AUX input (top socket) out to make way for the cd changer Input... All other sockets are filled with the original wires..

Any ideas chaps?

Sounds like you have unplugged it... the remote goes in on the green mini iso connector did you remove that when you plugged in the blue CD changer connector?

hmmmm, I'll have to have a look tomorrow morning.

The only connector I took out was a long black one that plugged into the top socket in the back of the HU, which had to be taken out to make way for the CD changer connector.

thanks for the replies guys though :)

Yeah, this one usually only has 1 wire in it - the steering wheel control wire! Let me know if you need the number of the port where the yellow wre goes and I'll slide mine out and have a look.

Hope you get it sorted!

Cheers

lol...sods law... Yup, The yellow remote steering wheel control wire is in this top black connector.. along with the Aux wires...

Ok, so I can't just pull this out and simply connect it to the correct pin, I'm going to have to buy a connector to fix this wire into aren't I?? Where can I get this from? Halfrauds?

If you go to your local VAG dealer with the black plug they will sell you a piece of wire with connectors at each end whic fit straight in to the connector. Just cut off the yellow wire and join the new wire on then clip it into the plug - I hope this makes sense! It's costs about a pound!

Cool, sounds simply enough. ;)

Is there any other way around it though? So than I don't have to cut the wire from the aux connector... i.e. make some kind of branching junction, so than if i want to connect the aux again the remote wire will still be in the black connector...

Does that make sense?? lol.. Is it doable??

It makes sense mate but I'm not sure it can be done. What about cutting the wire and wiring in the new one connecting the wires with a bullet connector, then if you want to revert back you can uplug the wire and plug it back into the connector in the photo above with another bullett connector?

I've got some of those connectors somewhere that would let you make up a lead... However finding them may be tricky!

I'll have a look when I get home.

I'm pretty sure we've got some bullet clips somewhere...... hmmm

So all I need is the wire so I can connect the yellow wire to the back of the HU, which I can get from a dealer.

Than from what I gather, I'd need 2 male and one female connector so I can swap back and forth if need be.... that right??

thanks for your help guys ;)

Yes mate although the wire you buy will connect into the plug which plugs into the head unit, not directly into the HU itself. " male and 1 female is right too.

I hope you get it sorted, Cheers.

Yeah cool, so will the wire I buy form dealers already have a plug on it, or will I have to buy it from somewhere.. I'm assuming it'll come with the plug on, ready to go??

No mate It won't have a plug, it will have this:

which will clip into the plug which fits into the back of the HU. Just make sure you get the jaws running the right way before you clip it in!
