Yes my mistake .....and by what he has said he has got..it sounds as its a vnt18 housing (compressor) mated to a vnt20 housing (turbine) ....unlike just fitting larger wheels in smaller housings.

lisa, shtrumfy here has a 18/20 hybrid, as per post #58 :p

how much does it take, btw, for someone with a VT5 to take a look at the turbo and see what's written on it??

All part numbers have been removed. VT5 comes with a new cast manifold(please point this out to Steve Lisa after i read a post of his on TDI club saying he knew it was steel wielded one, Allards don`t do steel manifolds) custom oil feed lines etc and if you check out pictures of my engine bay it sits high up behind the engine.

this 18/20 comes with the manifold ..i think is not vt5, actually i think is a little bigger than vt2
i would post pictures but i dont know how...sorry

If the VT5 install was only a 4 or 5 hour job then I wonder why my car was there for over a week. :D I've yet to look at my turbo, but should be able to get a gander on saturday when my car goes on a ramp. I won't be taking any close-up pics though, to respect Allard's technical work.

devon my turbo IS NOT VT5, i live in Romania 4000km from the UK, nobody sells Allard stuff over here

Depends what you class as high Mike.....i think you may have read his posts the wrong way , we know Allard don't use anything other than standard manifolds i have said as much myself on this site recently......and why all the oem markings are wiped off is that its basically a full vnt17 front to back its only different from standard because its been milled out to take bigger wheel......have we all got the picture now.

And one more thing a company i know who re-work every conceivable turbo on the market to very high hybrid spec's/standard were approached by Allard to produce turbo's for them .....and i was told from someone who works there what there turbo spec's were/are for said tdi conversions.....

2K......the vnt18 you have is from the vw V10 tdi amongst others is it not.

.

Go on then amuse me. Whats the spec of all the Allard turbos then.

Mike i've already more or less said , whether people want to believe is up to them.......take a look at some vnt20 / vnt22 / vnt23 / turbine wheel sizes which will fit into the vnt17 exhaust housing once milled out ....but you can't go too big.

This has been done by many guy's in the states , but now they are coming around to having full vnt20 / vnt22 and Kerma him self is doing a vnt20 turbo kit with seperate manifold plus other parts ......we may be getting/going into this same/similar kit.

I don't want to slag allards off but some pics would be good: if they are normal hybrids and they sell it at those prices to me this is a customer rip off [but then I know the prices in the uk are higher than here], if there's effectively some design/project/building work done, then it's good to know that paying allards that money for those turbos is justified,,,

I know someone over on tdiclub that paid £3,500 for there large fmic setup for the Mk4.....i could have got the same reasult for £1500....but to be fair there are good results and bad results with most companys...you can't please every one all of the time.....but our forth coming company will be picky and want to do so.

Anyone know what a 2275 compressor wheel is??

I would think it to be have a 75mm comp wheel in or with a vnt22 turbine housing.....there are lots of combo's out there when it comes to wheels and housings.

Mikey is there any more letters like gt2275v for instance?
