I'd have thought that it wouldn't affect your mpg, because your battery is only used for starting, and the alternator should supply enough for the car and re-charging the battery once on the move?

how old is the battery? can you top up the electrolyte as a temporary measure?

I don't know if Car Spares distribution do good batteries?

older cars had little plugs you could remove from the top of the cells, probably six to unscrew, or maybe a cap that would come off. if theres nothing obvious it's probably sealed for life. I think the green dot means it's almost fully charged?
are you measuring the acidity to know its almost dead or is it just sluggish to start the car?

my battery tester has 3 lights! Red (Low), Orange (Medium), Green (full).
When the car parked over night, it stays on orange! When i start the car it goes to red! takes abit struggle startin!
Onced it started it goes full!
After its been turned off for around 2hours or so, it goes to orange!

The alternator fine as i could measue it, it is charging correctly"

Yeh sounds to me like ur bat. If whe the cars running it shows as green then u know ur alternaters working. How old is the Bat? Should be replaced every 3 or so years. Wont affect ur performance at all like MC said.

Yeah, I'd say best to change it.
its normally the heavy use in cold weather that kills batteries... lights, rear screen etc.
over a year ago I could feel my battery starting to struggle because I was only going 10 miles a day during February. But since then it's been fine because of the longer runs. You may just get away with it but i'd change it just to be safe!
