Got to say my Tommi Mak was one of the most fun cars to drive I've owned and been in. It's not the same kind as car as an LCR. If you want a toy, or can afford and want to spend alot of money running an Evo then they're fantastic. But the LCR is a great quick everyday/small family road car.
Forget comparing straightline speed, at the end of the day the better car is the one that brings the biggest smile to your face. Depends what you want out of a car!
evo 5 vs LCR as a performance car nothing else.evo 5 by a long way
Yeah really the title of the thread should be longer.
evo 5 vs LCR as a performance car nothing else.evo 5 by a long way
evo5 vs LCR as a sporty daily driver/family car. LCR,cheap to run,fairly fast,comfy etc.
A long way? Track and 0-60 then yes but straight line speed i dont think so
4wd 280bhp is nothing special at all nowadays, 270bhp fwd car will hold on if not out accelerate in a straight line no probs.
.
On the other hand a Evo 5/6/7/8/9 over here is classed as a affordable super (saloon) car. Yet having a friend that owns one, its basically a money pit, tyres, pads, discs, filters, and the like all need to be changed at a minimum of 5k, yet a LCR will happily poodle along for 10-20k stretches at a time with only tyres, pads to worry about.
Posts like this really get on my nerves ... Why would you compare a standard car to a modified one? and why limit the cars performance to just straight line speed? My girlfriend has enough skill to race anything in a straight line. But give her a bend and she hits the brakes (hope she doesn't come on here)![]()
Take an Evo around a Track and compare it to a LCR and you'll have the Evo winning. Take a modified Evo against a modified LCR and again the Evo will win.
As for the prices of tuning an Evo look here.
If people get kickes from keeping with an STi/Evo from 30-70 then great but the only person who can show an Evo what a 1.8T can really do is Bill. He is well known/respected on MLR and are all quite aware of the potential of 1.8T's (1.9T in Bills case).
Straight line racing is for girls
Twisties are for men
you have to drive a certain way to wear out brakes and tyres quickly whatever car your in so thats irrevelant.
