They're based in Takeley, near Stansted Airport

They quoted me about 150 for the tints I wanted, which is about what I was expecting to pay - but obviously i'd feel a whole lot better if someone had been there before.

I did a search for tints on the forum and heard talk of a couple of other dealers near me - any alternative recommendations for the Bishops Stortford/Harlow area?

Everywhere I phone loves to remind me about the legal limit :) I only want the 30% reduction anyway...

The leon windows are bang on the legal limit (as you have probably already heard) so any moer will get you stopped occasionally. £150 sounds about fair but id see some of their previous work if possible.

BTW this is the leon section for general leon specific questions.

i went to a tint specialist by me, and he told me the tints i had on mine(standard) were not at the legal limit...and that i could go darker if necasary, and i know what you may be thinking "hes only saying that to get my money" but i happen to know the guy...

Just be VERY carefull with tint, 2 of my friends have just earned themself 3 points each for having tint that were too dark, and I'm not talking limo black or anythin, i just mean tinted!

Id ask if he has a VLT (tint tester) to see, and what % he was planning to use on the front.

its a grey area for tinters (no pun intended) i have fitted light smoke to front of customers cars and no problem, if the old bill can see you are belted up and not on your phone you tend to be ok. thats all they are looking for.

www.automotive-tinting.co.uk ..........that me.

just so you dont think im talking rubish

So you can legaly tint your front windows? i heard that they are changing this so you can tint them at all?

You can limmo all back windows and rear window?

you need to let through 70% visible light transmition, most cars have a standard 20% tint on them so that leaves you a riscky 10%. so no you cant really,

they had to recall some mondeos as they were over the limit as standard.

you could have a light smoke but if you get pulled and tested it will be over the limit.

to be honest you will only get pulled for other reasons like small plate, speeding, hanging around in car parks with other cars, they are all exuses to fine you for tints.

I've had mine done. B pillers back are dark smoke which is the next up from limo. I was told that your only allowed 25% b piller forward and that mine where at least that standard. So no point in doing them

all cars are different on the standard grade of tint, french cars have a dark green, german are blue. and that makes a big difference when you put film on them.

yes mate as dark as you want on the back.

the only car i have ever done dark is the evo on my web site and i warned him, and yes he was find and told to remove them.

I had dark smoke on my civic front and back. Never got stopped. Buy like you say i thin they will only do you if they stop you for somthink els!!

as i said mate if you can see you are belted up and not on the dog and bone you will be ok, they look ok to me mate.

they said they brought the law in as moterbikes were been knock off in the dark, there has never been a case in court where that was the issue, but i would agree if you look out a dark tint at nigh its hard to see the lights sometimes.
its just safety at the end of the day.

really sorry mate but ive just stopped doing cars and just doing buildings and homes now, ive stopped renting a unit now, sorry bud, it would be £220 for all though to give you a rough guide

cheers
