Well what can i say, had a tough week followed by a bad day today. Been taking an LGV intensive driving course this week, mix ups at the training school left me to face my test today with nowhere near enough hours under my belt. [:@] which subsequently lead to a failed test today

Anyhow, before starting the course i was advised to remove the rear view mirror from my car (in order to get into the habbit of using side mirrors only). Mirror pops of with ease at the beggining of the week. :D Went to 'pop' it back on today and....

Not all bad though as i was due a new screen due to a rather large chip/crack in the field of view. So off to get a new screen in the morning

Cheers ;) Theres no way i'm ever doing that again, wouldnt 'pop' in so i just gave it a little tap. Will be attaching the mirror to its stalk before its bonded on to the new screen.

so net time i assume you will just stick something over the mirror?

Yup :)

well if you had a crack in it anyway as you say its not all bad, should prob leave it off the new one for a bit to practice?
No offence mate but its prob better you fail unprepared than fluke a pass and mess up on the road
Good luck for the next test

I got the hang of the mirrors now tbh. I can't risk cracking the new screen, my insurance company won't be happy. And yeah your right about the test, i wa 90% sure i was going to fail due to the mix ups, just annoying as it cost £1200! And i had to take a weeks holiday from work. But the training school are picking up the bill for my retest and offering free lessons before hand.

just a thought..
wonder if thats actually covered by insurance technically?

Mine comes under my fully comp windscreen cover (£60 excess), no questions, no claims. Luckily.

****!
its good theyre picking up the bill for the retest and free lessons etc but loss of earnings is a bit of a pain, are you able to do it in your free time or will you have to take another week off?

Thats the thing, its all going to have to be juggled around work hours now. The next test will be a real rush job around my shifts during the week. I can't tell work about it as they'll think i'm leaving them for an LGV job. Might have to call a sicky when the time comes.

im on my second screen in 6months!
mate of mine did exactly the same thing to his peugeot a few weeks ago.

It sucks man, really only gave it a light tap. How on earth are you supposed to fit the dam thing without, well, breaking the screen.
