some insurance companies will not touch modded cars, mainly because they don't know what they are dealing with!
keep yourself legal, declare your mods with another insurance company!
coz lets face it if any of us gets a shunt from somebody with invalid insurance none of us would be happy and if it were me personally, them losing there no claims would be the least of their worries!

You think this is bad I've had to pay £30 with bell for mine when i phoned them up 2 days ago. They usually charge an 'admin' fee for changin stuff which usually comes to £10, the woman on the phone didn't even seem to know what a strut brace what she thought i'd lowered the car!!
pretty sure they are only in red, just don't clean it itll be black! Mine's still upstairs, i need to get some washers as apparently it touched the air box and rattles on the diesels.
spraying it black isnt going to be any less spotable really! estimators arent blind
yup i had to pay £15 admin fee to.... i had no probs with my airbox and strutbrace... i even fitted my k&n with my strutbrace still connected... i havent heard any rattles...

when i put one on my cupra i enquired to what the cost would be if declared (told them i was thinking about putting one on and wanted to know difference in price) they quoted £50 increase which i queried, they then asked me what it was!!!! to which i replied it joins the front suspension together, is not visible, and does not make the car any quicker. after this response they agreed that no extra charge was required, so might be worth explaining what it actually is!

A mate of my Dad's named his son on his wife's insurance to save some cash.
The kid was involved in a fault accident a few months down the line and the insurers were suspicous that the son was the true main driver of the vehicle. They sent investigators around the guy's neighbour's houses to ask who normally drives the car and they all said, of course, that the son did.
As a result the claim was refused and the kid ended up paying £2000 a year to insure a 1.1 mk3 escort third party only - and this was seven years ago.
I know you think you know it all but trust me - it REALLY isn't worth the risk - especially if you are planning on getting a more powerful car in the near future. Not to mention the fact that having no NCB is going to kill you for insurance - companies like direct line who offer NCB for named drivers don't like young drivers!

Anyway its not like where fronting the insurance we do as said I commute to school and college in it and occasionly drive it afterwards, he drives it rest of the time. As for NCB my insurances has dropped by loads since I passed nearly 2 3rds so well worth doing it this way.

I'd second that.
A few years back I had a (non-fault) accident in a Clio, when the estimator came out, the damage was the last thing he looked at.
First thing he did was look under the car, at the brakes, suspension etc, then in the engine bay, and finally at the stereo - all to see if there were any undeclared modifications that could mean they wouldn't have to pay up.
Then he turned his attention to the accident damage.
Like has been said above, a strut brace is bloody obvious, and could easily cause additional damage to the opposite inner wing / suspension turret in a crash - if that happened and was spotted by the insurers, you're going to be out of pocket big time.
And whether accessories are made by Seat or not, if they weren't fitted in the factory as standard then you should declare them as modifications.
i know what guinnes is saying i was very lucky that my parents insited i got my own policy from day one and paid for my first 2 years while i was still at college so i could build up ncb, and they didnt want me on theirs cos they thought i might crash which i did!
i have had to pay out on my own polices from day one motorbike and cars as me the named driver not to bad if u have the cash tho lol
is there any good competetive insurance companies out there that will insure a car with only one or two mods for a 20 year old? cant seem to find a good quote, got one off the post office for just over 700 with the mods declared (suspension and alloys)
seems expensive as its a 1.2... im 21 with a 1.9Tdi and mine fully comp is £500 with strut brace declared (added extra, not modified)... im with tesco's lol

Directline made me cry 2300 fully comp and that was the cheapest i could find spent ages looking for insurance damm u 1.2 SX you add letters to the end of any car it's never any good 
I then jokingly did a quote for renewal time and found out that with my speeding conviction my insurance is 700 quid cheaper because of NCB. hey go figures so maybe it does all work out in the end
