Hi folks,

As the subject line says, the blanking plug in the base of the EGR keeps blowing out !!!

We have replaced it twice and it's gone again. Perhaps we just haven't been able to fix it tight enough but we don't know too much about these things.

First off - why would it blow out in the first case - in fact, why is it there at all?
Secondly - we have been to our local Seat dealer who told us that we needed a new EGR and that it would cost £170 for the part plus labour to fit it. Frightening stuff!! Do we have any options? Is there a way to fix the thing permanently or a cheaper source for a new one.

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers,
Neil

dont be harsh rash, he may not know the search button is in the top right hand corner but plus if every1 used to search there wouldt be much point u might aswell just make loads of faq's!

did sound harsh  wasnt in a in a harsh way just as no1 had replied i thought a search would be his only hope:)

alo mate welcome to the site have you tried the :search: search button :search:

Yes we did a few searches and came up with quite a few posts concerning the EGR valve, but none we could find that discussed the blanking plug being blown out. I thought it might have been a fairly common fault and that somebody else on the forum may have experienced it and be able to advise, and that is why we posted the message.

was any of them near to what u wanted? if u put a pic up or something then somebody may know how to fix or wether it is a replacement jobbie?

No I'm afraid not - not that we could see anyhow. I'll try and see if I can get a photograph as you suggest.
