Look, im 20yrs old with 5 points! Im not ****ing stupid!! I cant afford LCR insurance so hello.......puttin the engine in with 1.6s insurance...does no one understand!??????? And also ive got a quote from my local Seat garage and id only get £1800max on selling my car! So how am i ment to dish out another 6 odd to get a lcr and £2000 + on insurance! well done poeple no help yet again! U just love to insult!

Mate, nobody is trying to insult you.

Don't take this personally mate, I'm not having a go at you, I understand your predicament. But if you think you can just put a LCR lump in a 1.6 and get away with it you're insane.

For starters, putting a LCR engine in a 1.6 and not declaring it is insurance fraud. FACT.

whilst the 1.6 leon is far far from a crap car (I know because I had a 1.4 leon for three years before I got my Cupra), it is designed and built to cope with the 105hp that seat sold it with. The standard gears, tyres, suspension brakes and god knows what else are not designed or reliably able to cope with 225. FACT.

Think about it. If the worst happens and you crash and kill an innocent third party... (don't say you won't because sadly we never know what's round the next corner) your insurance will be void and most likely YOU WILL GO TO PRISON. aside from the trauma your actions would cause.....

you say that 'I'm not f***ing stupid', but if you go down this route, you're not just being stupid, but incredibly naive to the potential consequences of your actions. If you've managed 5 points with a 1.6, do you really need the extra power?

please please please don't do it, and listen to the views people have already expressed, they're not trying to put you down, just trying to help and offer some advice.

nuff said.

p.s part of the reason for the astronomically high costs of insurance these days.....

......because we all have to pay extra to cover the costs incurred by uninsured c**ts that think they're above the law and everyone else......

sound familiar?

Andy3004, you`ve hit the nail on the head mate . When I was 22 i had an XR3 and my insurance went from £480>£840 3RD Party due to all the joyriding in about 1992/1993 . A lot of boys had RS Turbos , R5 Turbos etc with fake insurance and it p****d me off as I had to sell mine . It`s always the innocent people that get shafted if anything happens

Don't encourage him, it you could be you or your family he hits head on when he comes round a corner to quick on poor suspension and his standard 1.6 rated brakes fail him.

I've got a 1.8 20se, and ive only done little bits to it and im payin £1000 with 2 years no claims.

Do you have a particularly bad driving record? You seem to be paying quite a bit. I'm 21 with 3 yrs ncb, but I have 6 points, a license of only 1 yr and a few months old (had to retake after I got the 6 points 2 years after having it  ) and i'm insuring my Cupra for £853 fully comp. Although insurance quotes are a mystery...

As for putting a LCR engine in the 1.6 without telling the insurance company... don't be a moron. Hold it out for a bit longer until you can afford it.

i dont have any points on my licence. its totally clean, who are u insured with? i might have to get in touch with them! As soon as u turn 21 ur insurance comes down anyway as u move into a lower tax group (or summat like that). im still only 20

I'm with eCar Insurance, Greenlight also quoted me quite well although the first quote of £972 was with the assumption I had my license as long as my NCD ;)

Don't believe the 21 insurance thing. Even my last insurance company said it was pointless waiting until I was 21 to get insurance on my last car (it was a fortnight away) I think these days 25 is the magic year for getting the quotes down.

Personally I think the age discrimination act should cut out these high premiums for young wreckless drivers ;) lol

So you wanted to do this mod, but never thought of the other essential stuff...... do you still stand by your statement of not being stupid?
Regardless of the above post, i get the feeling most people (definatly me) would happily tell you their thoughts to your face.
Your an idiot for thinking you could do this without getting insured legally. A bigger idiot for expecting a high performance engine to work in your car without high performance brakes and suspension, and a complete tit for not being able to take advice that could save your life (more importantly other peoples) and if you think this forum is ****, then you obviously don't have much experience of forums. This forum has more info and help than you could use, but if the answer doesn't suit you, it must be duff info.....?
Grow up mate, drive safely, get some NCB behind you and get legal like the rest of us. :ban:

Was going to comment - but it seems everyone else has already made the main points regarding this!

I do know of a couple of garages who will do 1.8T transplants, but unless you want an undrivable dangerous car, you are gonna need a new drivetrain etc etc. With the amount it will cost, it's easier surely to save up for an old Cupra?!
