hey there,

just lately (following the replacement of my spark plugs, dizzy cap and leads) dont no if this has any effect on my problem or not!

my temperature is weird, when i'm in traffic, eg first and second gears, the temp is normal, midway on the gauge, but when i'm on the carriageway, fourth and fifth gears, the temp falls way down to near, sometimes below the white mark,

any ideas,

thanks

you would normaly find the temp goes down slightly on the motor way due to the rush of air going through the rad. but it shouldnt be that much. loose connection on the temp sensor maybe.

as i can see the gauge are you saying it nearly stops reading??? not sure where it is on a 1.4 but have a wiggle of all your plugs on your engine. check there all on and fitting tight

there is a thermostat switch in the rad that makes your fan come on and off. but you temp sensor that makes your gauge move is on the engine and like i said im not sre where it is on the 1.4

Thats confirmed as an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor and thats for a Seat Ibiza (93-99)1,4 Engine Code ABD

It'll fit into the side of the block, will probably just be one wire coming off it.

Sorry to thead-jack but i didnt see the point in starting a new thread,as im asking about the temperature aswell.

Today on my way to and from college i noticed something about my temperature gauge. It would be sitting fine in the middle once it was warmed up, but if i got stuck at a junction or moving really slow in the town or whatever, it would move down towards the bottom alittle then when you got back up to 60mph on the main road it would move back to the middle and stay there. Can anyone explain??

Right i posted last night about the small issue i was having. I had my car at work today and i never had the issue i explained above. Everything was fine, gauge didnt drop or anything.

Could outside temperature have caused it?? Im just wondering this as it is warmer today than it was yesterday.

If it was the outside temperature it would do the reverse of what you're saying. ie at speed it would be low, and in traffic and low speeds it would be high. Probabaly the same issue as Bryan...

The connection might be loose or something... I don't know to be honest with you mate.
