Got my brace yesterday, I'll have a go a fitting it tomorrow just need to pick up some 10x25mm bolts.

Here mate, a mk4 golf one, fits perfectly, very close on the engine cover thou.

that'd snap my CF engine cover easily. especially now it sits higher due to the uprated charge pipe.

Maybe, its tight on the original. SO how does your charge pipe make the rear of the engine cover sit higher then, as it needs the rear locating lugs to hold it in place so it still must sit in the original position. There is loads of clearence on the actual charge pipe, mot unless you have modded it to be made off 100mm osma!

S3 Strut Brace for LCR (2004)

I have also purchased the S3 Upper Strut brace, which requires drilling on the strut mount. I have been quoted £130 all inclusive, these are specialist garage that only deal in VAG vehicles. The spring/suspension will need to be removed, and drilling has to be precise so not to interfere with the spring. Is this too much money ??

i wouldnt advise drilling the top mounts when its jacked up

just fitted front and rear weicher braces lovely made and fitted a treat

Oh I like! Do you have any more information on it, where you got it from and how much? I was going to fit an S3 strut brace but would have to butcher my jabba heat shield, this looks like it might just miss it!

sorry. drilled whilst it was on the ground.

jacked it up to fit the nuts.

Suspension does NOT need to be removed, that's pointless. Offer up brace, mark holes, double-check, drill, treat holes with an anti-rust treatment, jack up one side slightly and bolt in, repeat for other side, make sure all is really tight. I also painted the underside of the bolts with underseal to make sure nothing corroded.

the only thing I'd add is to assemble 'loose' in the air, then tighten once the car is on the ground again.

Just in case - it'll mean the bolts aren't in tension whilst sat flat (the leon is particularly saggy when jacked up on one side)
