Hi All

My first post, so be gentle! I have a 1.9Tdi 2003 Ibiza and the hazard light has started glowing in the dash. I think I’ve found the power steering reservoir and believe that I need to top it up (please see attached photo).

Can someone please confirm that this is the reservoir and that I can un-screw it and fill it with fluid?

Thanks all

Ju

no sorry thats the oil filter, the reservoir for power steering is infront of the battery and has a green rop not much bigger than a coke bottle top.
The warning light you have on on the dash if its a coil light/warning light that looks like a piece of twisted string then check your brake lights ar working. the coil light comes on,on a diesel when there is a fault

as said that's the oil filter, look for a green lid below and to the front of the battery, sort of hehind and down from the passenger side headlight

what light on the dash is glowing exactly a pic would prob help :)

yer the sensors always play up. Mine does it now and so did the last one often have to stop and restart the engine, however on the new one I dont get a light come up it just doesnt work

Isn't there a known fault that affects the power steering on Mk4 Ibizas ?
I can't prove it but-- having had the lamp lit in ever warmer conditions over the last 3-4 years starting @ colder than -3degC and each winter moving to a higher temp now+5 I believe it's a lack of voltage, despite easy first touch starts, when the glowplug lamp goes out, in approx2-3 seconds the aircon fan will switch back on if you then hit the starter no power steering lamp:redface: the level should be tested on the dipstick but there is a laking on the res' a torch BEHIND it will help:)

notmally its water ingress into the steering angle sensor which is located on the rack underneath the car
