Gearbox repair likely ?

all my forward gears are fine , no crunching/smooth operation . But reverse is completely screwed . Gonn put her in the garage next week to get it sorted , is it likely that the GB will be repairable or am I looking at a new box ? anyone experience of this ? cost ?

i had this problem last year, everytime u put it in reverse and start to lift the clutch pedal it would pop out and grind like mad. I ended up putting a new gearbox in, i think thats the only solution

luckly it didnt cost me anything but i'm sure there'll be a few lads on here that can give you more of an idea of a price.

Just pick up a 2nd hand box or refurb

I have an invoice for one for my 8v, it was £600 (plus fitting)

I paid 200 for mine (part exchange for refurbed one) but my brother fitted it for free, its not perfect lol he was not very picky lol

i know what you mean - running a tdi box in mine whilst i rebuild the original - AGAIN! -

if i could ever get to 7500 rpm in top i could top 200+mph
