Oh right! Well I’ve not seen him in real life, seen a couple of vids of when he was running around 370bhp, looked pretty impressive to me! Nice car by the way, I didn’t know they made the lcr in pink! :D

take a 4wd car same bhp same car against a 2wd car, whilst rolling at same speed turn the corner and press the happy pedal, and watch the 2wd either spin up or understeer massivly, at the end of the day as hard as it sounds what people tell you (us) is usually true as its taken from experience.

purplr LCR btw. lol

so mines undrivable at speed round corners? decent suspension , rear arb and good tyres ... its not a problem. in fact i can lose the back well before the "massive"
understeer ? kicks in.

all down to driving style and practice:)

so then ALL rally cars should be 2 wheel drive and save all the money on converting to 4 wheel drive. I drive all types of vag cars every day from the older quattros and S2s to the newest S3, even though i dont really like how the s3 drives i much prefer my leon but 4 wheel drive is where its at even my mk2 with 120 bhp understeers and that is fully poly bushed on coilovers with decent tyres.

sorry to say but i once thought my leon was the dogs tits until i drove a real car.

you know wots its like all info is ammo n all that and im wheelspinnin like buggery now so when im all IHIed up i can see only one outcome.( but yes im a worryer )

are you getting a diff?
are you prepared to use sticky (but soft and therefor not long lasting) tyres?
do you have decent (non roly poly) suspension?

leave TCS on.. it should'nt light up

yeah and how fast can he go round corners? not very and with loads of understeer

Right..

My ibiza is the equal of the any car @ Castle combe in corner grip, including the Mitsi EVO's in class A. It is also faster than almost all of them down the straights. (lighter and equally powered) - It stops nearly as well, and looses it out of the chicanes where "traction" from the 4wd with their equal power gets down to the ground more than is possible on road legal, list 1a tyres.

EVO's are faster deffo, due to their traction out of the slower chicanes.
1m14s laps from EVO's 1m16s laps from Ibiza

(you do need to drive appropriately, and learn throttle control)

its not a rally car though is it. it drives on tarmac.
not argueing that 4wd will give better cornering grip... but your talking about massive understeer. and that isnt a feature of my car. 7.5 width tyres maybe? rear arb? absence of a front arb? who knows, but it goes round corners fast without too many oh my god moments.

the jump from 242 (previous set up) to over 300 is a huge learning curve. songman mentioned a pilots licence and he wasnt far off. the car is totally different and needs a different driving style. i have a boost controller so you can adjust the levels of torque to the wheels. low for 1st and 2nd, turn it up in third. or... keep it high and just use your foot. a3 quattro sps version is on the ecu so that may make a difference.

LMAO..

There are different classes of rallying, both 2Wd and 4Wd as you know...
In the dry tarmac stages super 2000 cars are faster in some instances than the WRC cars... ;) go figure :)

Stop bloody arguing and offer advice ladies

Anyway, get yourself a written off Golf 4motion mate, it'll need some welding though. There are a couple of 4mo's around with 1.8T's in them, and there are also a few 4WD Corrado's around too.

Best places are:

www.the-corrado.net

www.uk-mkivs.net

Or for less money than a full 4wd conversion, Stick another 20vt engine in the back

4wd Twin turbo 40valve anyone. Lol

theres some 1970's 2.0 ford escorts in Ireland that kick WRC butt without a turbo and electronics :)

yeah sounds the nuts and goes like stink bet you cant get the kids and shopping in it though...
quaife lsd and good throttle control thats all thats needed.
