Brembo Brakes Making a Noise

Hello i have a 55 reg mk1 cupra R 225 and when i go forward then stop reverse stop again the brakes clonk.
ive been to My local Seat garage and they said "yeah some do it some dont"
its still under warrenty and i said surely it shouldnt do it. They said basically the pads move because they are too small for the caliper. the onyl way of fixing this is by getting some performance pads. these are the originals in at the minute.
they work fine and still have loads of wear left in them.

i have spoke to brembo and they said something about the pins on the back of the pads but he couldnt really explain much as he wasnt english. (at the Autosport show)

ive searched the fthreas and founf 1 post in 03 sounds similar but i wondered if Seat was fobbing me off.

thanks in advance.

hmmmm is your calliper seized by any chance? usually the clunk is the calliper releasing.

not sure if these are common to go on the leon or not though

I had the clunking with standard pads but not since fitting performance pads. The clunking I was told was the pads moving.
I had no problems apart from the sound so I wouldn't worry about it.
If your really worried take it to a garage you trust and get them the strip and check them

Wouldnt worry about it,mine did it with standard pads and ferodo ds pads, think its when pad just moves and knocks against caliper, since ive had new discs and a new set of pads it isnt doing it now,so maybe it was the last set of pads that were causing it.Never caused any problems though.

Thanks for the replies.
Yeah its more direction than anything.
they said it was a common fault but they also said they have had so many problems with brembo that they have now gone with AP Racing. not sure if true or not.

Any suggestion on pads to go for. the disc seem fine though so i will change them at another time.
Performance ones dont have the wear indicators do they? Or can you get them now.

i had this problem, and i investigated with seat and just got fobbed off.
working in a garage i no that they shouldn't do this... well at least not as load as mine did as people would turn around to see what the noise was!!!
so my foreman and i set out to find an answer and when we removed the pads and cleaned away the burnt on dust at the top and bottom of where the pads fit we found sum metal spacer pads held in place by a screw, 4 in total per calliper. now we couldn't get to the screw with the disc still in place, and we guessed that even with the disc off we may still have to split the calliper to avoid shagging the screw.
so we put one pad in to see what sort of gap we had and on mine it was about 1mm.... hence the noise!!
on the lcr the caliper is on the front side of the disc so when going forward the pads are forced down in the caliper. we simply decided to bend the top spacers down very slightly with a small screwdriver ( had to tap it under a couple of them) to make the gap smaller but not pinch the pad which could lead to problems..... did both sides.... refit pads with copper grease.... road test....PERFECT!! that was 8 months ago and still going strong! up yours seat dealers.... normal?? more like you just dont wanna no.
hope this helps.

The guy at seat said something like this but he said they wouldnt do it as it may not be safe. but i guess they wud say that as they didnt want the hassle.

nice one ill have to find a good garage to do it for me as i aint got a clue on what to do.

cheers pal.

o if anyone knows a brand of pad that does do it let me know.

I recommend ferodo ds2500,they are a great pad, miles better than the crappy standard pads, there are other options like green/red stuff but you wont go wrong with ds2500,they aint cheap though~£100,but you get what you pay for in peformance. There isnt a wear sensor on them but dont worry about that, just join both wires together from the plug with an insulated conector.

To add to earlier replies, first set didn't, 2nd set clonked, current set don't. All OEM pads and disks. Seems to luck of the draw.

Mine are doing that now even after pad change - Original set no problems since change always happens - Went to get new brake fixing kit thought against paying £60 (PER SIDE) someone told me it is the spring the pins go against that fit on to the pads?

Managed to get an aftermarket fixing kit and has reduced by 90% but do get a little noise though pads do need to be changed

What the best pads to go for as £145 for Brembo's is......... well enough to make me cry!
