sorry, but what were you expecting when you say "Got to a junction and put my foot down expecting all hell to brake loose!"

an induction kit will give arounf 4-6bhp increase, possibly more on a mapped car, did you expect some kind of NOS type shot injection and the car to shoot off?

I think expectations have been set to high, which is why this has led to your disappointment

dynatwists are not loud, but in terms of performance they are a very good modfication due to their enclosed housing and also look very nice under the bonnet

give it time, and you will notice a difference, but anyone expecting some massive hike in power or what ever you were expecting will only lead to disappointment

I think he ment sound wise not power;)

Yup I ment sound I know they dont add any extra power worth speaking of, I was just suprised at what I got, thanks for your replys

Cheers
Chris

Hi all,

Well Iv just been out in the rind hail rain and cold as I was determined to fit my dynatwist induction kit as had looked up induction kits on this site and I decided that this one sounded the one to go for.

When I brought my leon 5 months ago It had a unnamed open air filter on it which I didn’t like the look of as I didn’t know what it was. On the car it made a very nice loud whoosh noise but no induction growl what so ever, boring lol!

Anyway to the point of this posting after fitting my dynatwist which I got of ebay the other day (second hand) and the seller noted that he got a nice induction growl from it.

So all fitted up and looking good I let the car sit for a min with the key turned round but engine not on then 5 mins with the engine sat at idle, then the moment of truth I went for a drive not giving it any till nice and warm at 90 degrees. Got to a junction and put my foot down expecting all hell to brake loose!

Nowt special, disappointing to be honest Id lost the loud whoosh now just a subtle noise if that and no real growl just an increased engine rumble. The same through all the gears at all levels of revs the only thing I would say is that response is a little better as its only taking in cold air now.

Have I missed something here should I have done something else? Would have been really naffed of if Id spent the full £170 for it! So I assume Iv done something wrong, please someone come along and tell me Iv done something silly and make it all better lol.

Cheers
Chris

p.s cars a 1.8 t.

Same Reason i removed my pipercross viper, and it felt a bit more restricted than with the K+N and a cold feed.

dont get me started about the piperx viper!!!! cost me 250 quid and killed the engine and when it was remap time jbs told me to throw it away as i was only getting half the air in than a panel filter ( 30 quid ) . good old piperx did give me a refund tho.

whe he mentioned he was expecting all hell to brake loose i think he was refering to the noise level not performace

the RamAir filter is meant to be the loudest isnt it? but i read somewhere i think it causes problems with the MAF? i may be wrong though.

you want to ask DPJ about that ;) i think he's on his tenth MAF and the RamAir is now gone.

I have had the RamAir on for a while, need to log my MAF when I get some time to see how its doing.

so what does people think is the best sort of combination of DV and induction kit to give a good whoosh noise?

Ive got a KN typhoon and the dv quite loud with it,best filter system i ever had.
I had vipercross on mines, i got rid of it in a few days, crap thing

whooshy, ppppsssss, tttsssshhhh, wotever!! i looked at the forge dv recirc valve but seen quite a bit of details about getting the right settings for it and seems a lot of hassle! Will the 007p valve give off a whoosh if an induction kit is fitted? I know its a closed valve but someone said mixed with an induction kit it will give off a decent dv noise...?

no your thinking about the Forge BOV, I only mentioned the Forge recirc which is the 007P

the forge 007P will not give off a great deal of woosh, as it does not dump the air it recirculates it....

atmospheric dump valves do not work on the 1.8T engines as they see it as an air/boost leak and shut down into limp mode

hence the requirement for "wooshy" type induction kits to make up for the lack of dump valve noise

forge 007p and BMC or carbonio induction kits are a very good combination to give the desired effect
