Last night I fitted a cruise control stalk to the Leon at a friends house, now to do this you need to remove the air bag. Since I have put the airbag back in the light is still on, is this normal and just need turning off with Vag Com or is it telling me that its not reconnected properly?

My next issue was when I started the car to drive home it started fine, but when I went to pull off it would only rev to 1200rpm, until I dropped the revs back down to idle and then it would drive perfectly normal again. Any ideas here? Could it be due to me not activating the cruise control on the ECU yet?

you probably had the ignition on when you disconnected the airbag, make sure the ignition is off all times

The battery has been disconnected while the airbag was removed and re installed.

You tired clearing the fault code? have you done a TB alignemnt when you reconnecetd the battery?

I've got a friend coming over later tonight to switch the cruise control on and see if there are any codes regarding the air bag light. I think I may check the connections under the scuttle to make sure all of the connections are pressed home. What is a TB alignment do you mean a throttle body alignment? Is this required when you disconnect the battery?

Cheers for your comments guys. Air bag is now sorted after connecting to Vag Com last night. The engine though didn't come back with any error codes, so this morning I am going to go back and check through all the wiring and connectors that were disturbed to fit it.

This morning I have had a good look at the car and sorted all the problems, and the cruise control is properly working.

For anyone else doing this, I will say what I did wrong.

When putting the wires into the black connector underneath the scuttle, I has just pressed the mail connectors from the CC loom into the connector block, with it being dark when I installed it the other night, I didn't realise the connector block already had two wires going into it which I had then bypassed. With the bypassed wires it was making the car hesitate when first setting off and putting the engine on load. The engine would limit to about 1200rpm. Once left to go back to idle the car would then drive normally.

Another problem I came across was inserting and removing the barbed pin plugs from the sockets. There is a purple plastic lock on the plugs which holds them in, this needs pulling out first.

I shall be doing a friends MK4 golf ( which is identical to the Leon) in the next month or so, and will take some pics to show the problems and where I went wrong this time.
