From reading loads of threads and from personal experience it seems that the LCR is particularly prone to killing front tyres prematurely by wearing them down on the inside edge. :headhurt:

My last two sets of GSD3's have worn out on the inside edge whilst the outside still has 5mm on them.

Now before people suggest the tracking being out they have been checked each time I had the tyres put on. They have also been correctly inflated throughout their lives.

What have other people done to cure this?

I am now going to try replacing the wishbone bushes to see if they are at fault. :(

If that doesn't work I will replace the top mounts.

Has anyone else got any suggestions

sounds like excessive negative camber on the front wheels....makes the car handle bit better (turn in etc) but wears the insides out.

Some of the tyre places with the more sophisticated kit may be able to adjust it...not sure how easy it is to do though....

I have had this problem loads of times mate, doing 30k a year don't help!! You said that you have the tracking done, is this at a standard tyre place?? If they are doing it, I was told by the one that I use that they can and have been known to make the problem loads worse!! If you haven't done it already, I would get a geo-check 4-wheel alignment done. After I got mine checked, it seemed to sort it out (ended up getting a dealer to do it whilst servicing it though...). Think it cost about £80 but a hell of a lot cheaper than GSD3's every couple of thousand miles!!!

Have you had you car lowered?

What is unusual here is the wearing on the inside edge, wearing the middle out first is a common LCR trait.............not the inside edges.

i wore the inside edge of a few sets before finally finding someone (APS in Brackley) that knew what they were doing when setting up an LCR. they have a Beissbarth machine which imo is the best you can get.

The car is on standard suspension, and no I don't often see if I can pull 1 G around roundabouts

However, I've had some creaking and groaning from the front when I go over speed bumps - I thought the wishbone bushes may have had it as I have already changed the drop links.

Might get JBS in Chesterfield to do an alignment check ;)

get em bobyou on an s3 strut brace on , a bargin at around 50 quid and will pay for its self in tyre wear over time.

The inside edge will be excessive negative camber. As you say you get creaking from the front, I would suspect worn bushes or joints.

That was my reasoning. Even though I have only done 53,000 miles you know what Sheffield is like - speedbump centre of the north

I'll have a look for anything obvious and give it a good wiggle :D

Does anyone know if there are uprated top mounts - the oem ones look very poor quality
