Met up with Slick and Olaf tonight to have a look at both brakes kits to make sense of it all.
Good news and bad news really. The good news is that all the calipers are fine and so are the discs and hoses. Bad news is that Olafs brackets are for BMWs so Olaf and I will fight for them to get changed over for the correct brackets.
All go for me on March 7th! Big Brakes here I come![]()
I nearly left with the two calipers Maz turned up with. That would have been hilarious haha.
What is not so funny was my highly inadequate wheel clearance, you and your bloody ruler Rodger!
Will you be needing some 10mm and 16mm spacers with bolts Olaf![]()
40mm!!!!! How come it's so far out?
Pain in the ass eh - you might like this pic then

Porche 993 Turbo front brakes - if they clear on those wheels i reckon Maz should be ok too!
Even with a bell and rotor it's the carrier that dictates how far out the caliper sits - disc clearance is not the issue. I'm not buying new though - i'm buying 2nd hand and if it doesn't fit then i can still sell for pretty much what i paid![]()
Yeah the caliper dictates where the discs sits and vice versa, your caliper sits over the OE postion of the 312mm disc, in the 993 turbo conversion the disc is on a hat and positions the caliper further back by up to 8mm in some cases to allow OE alloys fitment. Tha 993 rotor is on a hat, so guessing that its being thrown back 6mm or so.. yours doesnt, so just be aware Pat.
I'm not preaching, but if anything i learnt from custom made brakes is that, and also the fact i work on CAD, i have designed the hat and rotor systems in 3-d and found alot of information into it!
