hello guys, does anybody have any ideas on how to enhance the performance in any way on a seat ibiza 1.2 MK4, have been looking at induction kits and air filters, but i am not sure which is the best and i am stuck on what else i can do to make it faster to be honest.lol:happy:

Hello and welcome to SCN.

Your looking at an Air Filter and Exhaust.

I took my mk 4 to the dealer yest bout fitting an induction kit, they said to do it id have to leave the engine cover off, and it just connects up right to a pipe at that back? is this right? and will it make any differenc eleaving the engine cover off??

I know with the 1.4's you need to the engine cover off as the air intake it a little pipe that sort of hides under the engine cover and the induction kit fits on that somehow I think.

I think the best way to get power out of a 1.2 is to get the gases flowing well. Decent panel filter and decent exhaust. :)

Warp 9, ha ha!

Myself, I'd like little bit more torque from my 1.2. Can sometimes be a bit frustrating trying to get up some of the hills on the A34 with a full set of passengers and having it stop going any faster at 68mph. Maybe I'll just make them lose weight...

I don't think there is anything you can do without spending huge wads of cash that will make any real noticeable difference to a 1.2, there really isn't that much untapped power in the engine. I can't see an air filter making the sort of difference you would be after to be honest. It might be worth trying to shed a bit of weight, lose any crap you have in the boot, if you really want to go for it chuck the rear seats out and get rid of the spare wheel and jack lol ;)

traded mine in for a diesel FR :p

Yeah, 1.2 and fast don't really go together, it's not built to be fast, it's built for running back and forth to the shops.

ive got a 1.2 mate. I asked this question when i first joined the site and was told to trade in lol. Decided against that lol.

Ive put a green panel filter in and got a custom backbox put on.
The panel filter didn't really make much difference but sounds a bit better, the backbox added a little speed and better responsiveness.

These are probly the best mods for speed with a 1.2. It would be a better idea to focus on looks rather than speed.

If you really can't manage with the lack of power you best get saving for an Fr or something.

Hope this helps.

oh and welcome to the site mate!
