Before I get flamed, I have done a search and the only related thread I could find was in the Mk2 section hence this post specifically for Mk1's.

I have been quoted prices for servicing my Mk1 FR150 at my local SEAT dealer, which I think are extortionate [:@]

10K @ £260
20K @ £315 (cant remember that one exactly)
30K as 10K
40K @ £400 ish
60K (cambelt) @ just under £500...

the dealer says it's because the FR150 uses 'special' oil...

Are these the norm or way over the top and could I go to Skoda or VW dealers to get quotes as the mechanicals are shared across ??

Thanks

Martyn

I've just been quoted £260 + vat to get the cambelt and waterpump changed by an Independant Specialist - oil isn't that expensive and nor is the oil filter / pollen filter.

Basic service shouldn't cost more than £100, i'd certainly not pay more than that - bear in mind your SEAT dealers labour rates may well be close to £100 an hour!!

farmer giles, if you tell us where you are located i'm sure someone can recommend a specailist near you that can give you a good price for service.

You don't need to take it to a Seat Dealer for a service, just make sure the garage uses genuine parts and are VAT registered.

I am located in Newbury, Berkshire which is J13, M4. My local SEAT dealer is Richard Hussey in Newbury but I also have Skoda, VW and Audi local as well.

However I would be glad of any recommendations for local specialists..

Cheers

i had mine in for a 25k service and had all the brake fluid drained out as its two year old now, done the usual things like oil filter diesel filter air filter and pollen filter and i got a litre of oil to top her up and i only paid 230 for that, i was quite happy.

Ahh.... I know it very well, I used to work in Thatcham so used to travel down the A34 and cut through 'Worlds End' to get there.

Have you tried searching also? theres a wealth of info on here, try searching on 'newbury' and 'service' for a start.
