Can't make my mind up.. It looks nice, I reserve judgement until I see one in the metal!!
Bocanegra would be awesome.. We'll see what happens..!

If they keep it as we've all seen then i'm still up for one

I think looking to Golf GT's running this engine is the answer to that. Where they lead or fail, we shall follow no doubt. :cartman:

Going off topic slightly here, but ive not heard any any tuning options for the none diesel GT, is that the answer?

Right, so far we have.
Old 1.2
Old 1.4
Old 1.6

Should of been forever retired it's so ancient 1.9tdi 90
Just as ancient 1.9tdi 105

This really isn't looking good. I think vw needs to give it's engine line up a good sorting out. Sure these engines a capable of doing the job but are far far off even dreaming about being class leaders. Sort it out!

The 105 PD is newish actually ;)

The PD100 was the one before it, and they updated the ECU to get the 5 :D

SEAT UK Press Release

SEAT UK have just issued their press release too.

Hot on the heels of the smart SEAT Ibiza five-door’s international debut, the dynamic Spanish car maker is today revealing its stunning new Ibiza SportCoupé.

With two fewer doors and an even more svelte shape than its stylish five-door supermini sibling, the sassy SportCoupé is tailored very clearly towards drivers keen to mix fun and functionality with a head-turning shape.

The SportCoupé’s bespoke silhouette – at 1,428 mm it is 17 mm lower than the five-door with a markedly different and more aggressive design treatment throughout – clearly signals the sporting intentions of the latest addition to the new Ibiza family.

And that dedication to driving excitement is underlined by the newcomer’s technical highlights which include the option of cutting edge seven-speed DSG double clutch gearbox technology – a world first for the supermini segment.

The ultra slick-shifting automatic/sequential manual ‘box will be available on 105 PS 1.6-litre versions of the new car, while crisp handling and a composed ride are assured courtesy of the Ibiza SC’s all-new supermini platform – the first application of this particular engineering base in the Volkswagen Group.

There’s also a different interpretation of designer Luc Donckerwolke’s ‘Arrow Design’, with lowered headlights and repositioned radiator grille serving to reinforce the muscular new motor’s obvious kerb appeal.

Precise engine and trim combos have yet to be confirmed, although it’s already clear that more potent FR and Cupra versions of the new Ibiza will certainly sport SC styling when they make their debuts over the coming months.

SEAT Head of Marketing, Steve Robertson, said of the important addition to the new Ibiza family: ‘Traditionally, a significant part of our business has been built on the success of three-door Ibiza, so the unveiling of this stunning new SportCoupé is a key moment for us.

‘I know our existing Ibiza owners, as well as sports-orientated supermini buyers generally, will be thrilled at what they see. Personally, I can’t wait to see the new Ibiza SC on the road here in the UK!’

I can't wait to see more detail on this... With the 1.6 being the 'eco' engine, with the DSG, and diesel prices going where they are, it might well be a reasonable car for the future

Sorry, don't like it. Can see some Corsa, Clio and Mazda 2 in it and I don't want any of them!

I can't believe VAG are still peddling the 1.9 TDI - especially as a 90bhp model.. why would you buy that when the 1.4 TDI has 80bhp!?

Think it must be a typo as these are out of production...
Oh & the 1.4TDI had a 90hp variation amoungst others...

90-160 hp 1.9 TDI
The 1.9 TDI is the emblematic turbo diesel from Volkswagen, which developed the notion of various outputs of the same engine. In the Passat, the 90 hp (67 kW) was introduced in 1993, the 110 hp (82 kW) in 1996 and the first TDI with pump*jet direct injection in 1998 with 115 hp (86 kW). The EA086 is built in Puebla, Mexico for North America. These have progressively been discontinued, and now only the new 105 hp (78 kW) version is used on new models, like the Golf V, the Jetta and the new Passat. See TDI.

What ever they do engine wise they would do well to look at the number of TDI Cupra's they have sold.

I bought mine because it was quick and economical. So as said be me lots of times so far, SEAT give us a 200BHP TDI in the new Ibiza.

You diesel boys really are power hungry aint you guys. The 1.6 7 speed DSG will improve acceleration and economy.

And all new small cars will look like a corsa/clio/mazda2/mk5 ibiza due to safety regs and targets put in force by the EU.

Corsa - common as muck
Ibiza - Sexy as fcuk

:D

I still hope the cupra isnt lumbered with the 1.4 TSI mill as I dont think that engine will tune very easily. Apparently and this one actually goes against what my usual sources indicated audi have developed a new 3.0 supercharged engine. I really cant understand why VAG are messing about with superchargers so much.
