Ok as a few of you know im down on power as of the other weeks rr day aprox 50bhp down.( should hit 320 hit 270).
Took it to jbs today for them to av a look at and it turns out my ecu isnt requesting enough boost , its mapped to hold 1.4bar till just after redline but the ecu is only requesting 1.2 and only 1 at redine, there are no fault codes and no-one has messed with the mapping ,the air-fuel ratio is bob on.
the guys there say it may be in some kind of "SAFE" mode as it may think somethings wrong so is scaling down the boost , this has them stumped cos if it wasnt getting the boost but still requesting it then they could just look for a leak etc but this just isnt asking for it:confused:
Any one out there got any idea ( its booked in for a full day on the 27th )

told you it was boost!
I don't know why people don't use aftermarket controllers.

so has it 'lost' boost since they custom mapped it? or did it never request the boost? seems odd that it made one set of numbers, then the map degraded? and you lost boost

Thats what alot of tuners do mate, wind it right up get the numbers then pull it back for the customer for safety.
I don't get any figures when my car is mapped,i just get told it's right!

is the wastegate actuator mounting bracket rigid? has it bent at all and "relaxed" since original fitment etc....

request going down sounds bizarre....

Im investing in a boost gague at the weekend so ill be able to see what im getting , but as for why i aint got a clue so its back to jbs she goes to have a look round her.
could it be the maf as this rarly throws up a fault code???

this sounds alot like mine. for the first 4-5 months it hit 1.3/4 . then it dropped to 1.1.

the car has suddenly come back to life... solid 1.4 . after changing the green panel filter to an open cone and fitting a diaphram dv.

i think the panel filters getting clogged. (iirc you have a panel?)

cant see how piston dv could affect things.. one i took off appeared to work fine

Why couldn't you just run a aftermarket controller ,surely airflow is airflow?

After much searching and head scratching I AM STUMPED! Nothing seems to affect the requested boost apart from the map or limp mode and i realy dont think iv got a 274bhp limp mode ( would be nice tho ).
Boost gague is on order ( mabe here wednesday) so i can keep an eye on pressure ( in bar ) but apart from that ill av to wait n see what jbs say on the 27th.
But if any of you have an inkaling what it maybe ( however wild ) post it up for me and ill av a look around and do some logs ( i have vag com now )

I'll start the stupid thoughts then......

How about fuel filter? Has this been changed recently?
What petrol do you use? Try a different supplier with higher RON rating if possible.
Spark plugs clean and in good nick? Are they uprated from standard ones?
Have you tried cleaning and resetting the TB?
An ECU reset?

None of these things I would have thought would effect requested boost but hay your scratching your head

Right then plugs are 2 weeks old ( bosh super 4's)
tesco 99 ron was what it was mapped on and i always use
TB is clean as a wistle
fuel filter ... iv no idea
will do a ECU reset after i fit the boost gague so i can see if it ups the boost.

Does it really matter what the requested boost is?
Get a aftermarket controller on there.

Would that really matter as the map says hold 1.4 but the ecu is only requwsting 1.2 ????
