Brakepedal sounds like inflating something with a foodpump!

I think I have some brake problems here, my brakepedal does not seem to build up any pressure!

I can get pressure when the car is not running, 3-4 pump and the pedal is hard, and stays hard, until engine is started.
But when the car i running, and I press down the brakepedal, is sound like I'm trying to inflate a pool toy with a foodpump.

It's nearly impossible to get pressure, and it disappears VERY quickly.

I've tried my dads Pug 407, and if I pressed the pedel rappidly in idle, I was able to get some pressure, but it was fading out (which it's supposed to?)

I think it's been a long time since the car had new brakefluid, could is help change that?

/Regards Thomas

Could be brake fluid but more like the vaccum connection on the master cylinder leaking if it sounds like air. Also if the brake fluid hasn't been changed for a while get some RBF600 from Bill Badger 5

Ok, never changed it myself, may'be i should get a mecanic...hehe

But isnt it "just" to drain it, tap it off in each corner. refill, tap out and stop when there are no bobles, in the order right rear, left rear, front right, front left? Ofcause make sure to there are new fluid the the reservoir

After re reading my post this won't work as its vaccum you are trying to detect not air leak.
So don't do what I said above as this will fill the system with soapy bubbles which I don't think will help your caes.
AND whats a FOODpump??

Yes, get your brake fluid changed and power-bled. See if that solves the problem, or if you have a leak / master cylinder problem.

Yes and i'd not fancy doing it myself - better off left to people that know what they're doing!

So your brakes are ok now, Pat? ;)
