Think seen your car to day at seat in Derby had a quick look round it noticed the brakes. It says on here that you turned your disc round or somthing.Unless someone else has done the same looked sweet anyway.

Race license, very interesting

Thats good advice, I wish i could get my car sorted and i could give you a shot to see what you think of it.
Still no word from Seat

Yeah, I am quite excited about the MSA stuff - I'll let you know some detail once it comes!

It's a shame they are dragging their heels on your gearbox. Must be pretty frustrating. Mine spent the day at SEAT Derby (SEAT customer services have now referred me there).

They couldn't reproduce the wheel bearing noise, won't sort the flaking lacquer issue on the callipers but they did spot that the exhaust bracket has broken and as such are replacing the exhaust under warranty!!! Nice! They are also going to replace all the R badges as the are going all weird again. Bonus although it does mean that my Turbo Back Piper is not essential anymore.

I asked the mechanic who seemed like a really nice chap (he has an R1 and tracks his M3 at Donington) what he thought about the car as I had some niggles around gear change, flat spots on the turbo etc and he said it was the best LCR he has ever driven. That cheered me up a abit as it is easy to get paranoid over squeaks and rattles that present themself while you are driving.

I have been chasing two more OZ Ultras and some R888s and unblievably they are all on back order most likley due end of September! Nightmare! I am now wondering if I may as well wait until next year to do that little wheel project as the weather may not be particularly supportive of my new tyres as we approach winter and it would be a shame for them to sit in the grage for 6 months! We shall see.

I nearly got tempted to ask what they would give me for mine as they had a brand new candy white Leon Cupra K1 in the showroom..... I managed to resist this time. :headhurt:

Hi Adam, the beast was indeed in for some warranty work at SEAT Derby today. Booked in next week for her first MOT, new exhaust and a few other bits. I have to say I was very impressed with their customer service. Exceptional.

I saw my first new Ibiza today - rolling up as I was collecting mine. Still on the fence over the design....

What were you doing there?

Yes, the rotors are on back to front so the groove bites into the pad when braking. Gives a much more agressive braking but pads only last 12 months as a consequence... :D

I saw the orange Ibizia too, didn't do it for me. Just doesn't have the road presence of the last Ibizia. I'll wait for the Cupra to make my decision.

It was booked in for suspected wheel bearing issues (unable to find anything), metallic clanking when you go over bumps (which turned out to be the exhaust which they are replacing under warranty - nice!), the R badges disintegrating (warranty fix again), flaking lacquer on Brembos (they ran a mile - will need to sort this myself).

Are you modding yours with the Cupra kit? Was the bumper painted when you picked iy up or are you sorting it yourself? It looks mean in the picture - you got any more shots? :D

I was really tempted by the Cupra K1 with black wheels (trading mine in) - it does look great but concerns are that it is too heavy, it is slower than mine and I would need to find £10K from somewhere!

I used to live in Radcliffe on Trent, I am Loughborough way now. Nice and close to Donington :D

i asked yesterday when the cupra was comin out but they said there not doin to be one there just doin one with a diffrent body kit on it so i dont no.My uncle has a 05 plate leon cupra R and his R badges have gone all funny but he didnt take it back didnt think they would do anything about them.Dont no about yours but does yours have the recaro stiched in to the seats or just the R,My uncle has the recaro and the R for some reson but never seen it on any others do ya no why. Iv changed the front bumper with just the fr one and the rear one is the cupra/fr one and it came non painted cost £230 for the bumper with discount and to have it sprayed it is £200 for the bumper and the boot.Might try it on to day cause need to sort out a exhaust cause the hole is diffrent.Il try find more pics stil mostly standed apart from front end waitin for the body shop to sort out the rubish repair to it from last month.Isaw the leon with the white wheels on in the show room looked rally nice but alot of money and like ya said looks like it could be a heavy bit of kit.Noticed it didnt have brembos on it to_One more thing cant ya have your brembos powder coated or anything my uncles are fine but iv seen alot were the lacquer has peeled off. His rear calipers have lost ther colour theo.

Hi Oliver,

just noticed the thread, car looks awesome with the bigger brakes and lightweight wheels
Sounds like you really enjoyed Donny too, the LCR looks at home on the track!

Your discs ARE on the right way/side, yes the grooves on the surface point the "wrong" way, but the vents inside are correct. Seen a few upgrade companies doing it this way, keeps the best cooling through the integral vents while giving an ace bite under pedal. AP seems to offer the discs with surface grooves going both ways - gotta just watch for the internal vents when it comes to fitting!!

Anyway, keep up with the shiny pics and the track action!

Hi Adam,

Mine only have the R stitched into the seat, I didn't see the benefit of the extra £1000 or whatever it was for the Recaro which didn't seem to look any different to the standard ones.

Look forward to seeing shots of yours once the new bumper is fitted. The Cupra kit does look nice on the Ibizia. i am sure they will bring an Ibizia cupra out - its where most of the appeal is. :D

Another of my criticisms of the Leon K1 is that the wheels looked cream (not white) and I can imagine they are hell on earth to keep clean. Black is definitely the colour to get them in. A friend of mine mentioned that the body kits are engineered to retain the original performance figures of the donor vehicle. No addtional downforce from the rear spoiler and cooling from the artificial vents on the bumpers. Such a shame....

When they developed the new Cupra they kept warping the Brembo set-up (as per the MkI LCR) so they fitted the brakes from the R32 instead.

I spent a weekend repainting my rear callipers - made a big difference and i id it very carefully while they were still on the car. The fronts are annoying me, especially when I saw an 04 in the dealers with immaculate Brembos, mine is a 55 and they look like they have excema! [:@]

Will you have to make many changes to get your exhaust to fit?

Hi CSD,

Thanks for the kind words, she does handle really nicely since I made those changes. Donny was amazing, I am trying to get there again on the 25th but I have a suspected wheel bearing issue which SEAT don't seem to want to acknowledge, the clock is ticking....

You'd be surprised how many people comment "Do you know your brakes are on the wrong way round" - like I wouldn't!!!! I would recommend the brake set-up to anyone, I was out-braking most of the cars on the track and had no fade even after 10 laps!!!

Next project is to replace the AP bells on the front and sort out the flaking callipers. Tempted to lose the Brembos and put some AP Racings in..... Alcon are another manufacturer that are starting to gain some ground too... :D

Have you got any projects underway on yours?

Dont think i would spend that much on my seats alot of money really .

Gettin my boot and rear bumper painted on thursday booked it in yesterday.

Hit my bumper on the flower pot on the drive last night would of been gutted if i was my new one

My wheels are bad as it is to keep clean and there silver.Waitin to get my new wheels then i might spray my old ones white or black and use them for winter just have a play with them really.

Why do the brembos warp so easy then i got told there really good brakes.

Iv seen a few leons with good brembos but iv seen some even newer ones with crap ones. Must been a bad bach of paint they used or something shame look really good i always look at calipers see how big the discs are. Sad really

Well i tryed my bumper on today and i deff need a new exhaust cause its a tdi the exhaust points down and ya can see it. Tryin to find a exhaust for it dont no if to go for twin next to each other or a big oval which fills the hole wot ya think.

It is a lot of money considering you can buy race spec sparco carbon fibre units for cheaper or even a set of reconditioned RS4 off the web!

Be good to get your bumpers on, my front has a million tiny stone chips but not worth spending money getting it sorted as it just happens again!

Which wheels are you going for? I am planning to get a second set of my OZ ultras in gloss black for track use. Problem is they are on back order for months....

The Brembo callipers are superb units, the disks and pads are the weak link hence upgrading mine to the two piece AP racing set with Mintex 1155 pads. At standard the Brembo set are significantly better than non-Brembo set-ups but they fade quickly and are prone to warping under heavy use. You really need a grooved disk to put a smile on your face! :D

The best money spent on a car is on the brakes... put simply they can never be too good...

I think you are right with the bad batch of paint, i am tempted to buy some new ones, have the old ones stripped and refurbished and then sell them on eBay to try and recoup some costs.

The exhaust issue is a tricky one - I think the no brainer is that it should be a single oval rather than twin pipes. They look classier on the cupras, i am certainly not a big fan of the jap style big circle :D When are you planning to get one?

I need my bonnett sprayed has alot of chip gettin it done soon. But unlike ya self i dont take mine on a track so shouldnt get as many stonechips i do drive mine a bit slow really lol.

Dont no yet was thinkin of some BBS's or some audi wheels il wait and see thing is i kerb my wheels alot had my last wheels refurbed 7 times in 2 years had to have them all done cause they were a hard colour to match.

Think my front brakes have warped feel abit crap.Thinkin of grooved ones but cost alot not as much as yours theo. But dont no which ones to get think of doin front and rear at same time.

Thinkin it will look alot better havin a oval easyer to clean and it wil take more of the gap up thinkin of gettin it sometime next week soon as poss really. Not really a fan of jap style to.

I finished the front now i want to finish the rear of then get some coilovers on then wheel then want to take it on a rollin road cause i think its been remapped if it has then goin for a FMIC to finish it of.

I wish! Not enough cash to play with at the moment unfortunately. Just concentrating on keeping the old girl going, will be doing a Stage 0 tuneup this week though. Just oil, filters, plugs etc; the usual!

Why are you replacing the AP bells? They look fine to me?

You sound like me!!!! I have had my wheels re-furbed three times and replaced them all once! The front spiltter has been replaced 5 times, the fading badges three times, the tyres get changed at 3mm of tread, blah blah blah. I would so recommend the OZ ultras - they are £1k for a set of 18"s with tyres from topgear.co.uk which is not a bad price at all considering how superb they are.

Embarassingly I have purchased a full front car bra which should be arriving Tuesday! That should keep me safe on the track from flying missiles! I'll upload pictures once it arrives. Hope it doesn't look gay!

I would recommend you do the brakes all at once otherwise it will be hard to get a feel for the difference it makes, I agree with you on the exhaust too. I had a twin 3" pipe Janspeed S1 on my last car and that was nice but exhausts help define how a car looks almost as much as wheels so you have to get it right! :D

Cars just swallow money!!!! I am just pricing up a visor add on for my helmet (as it came with a BTCC peak). Not sure whether to go for stig full black-out or something a little more subtle! :D

I know how that feels, just recently done insurance, taxed for 12 mnths earlier tonight, service and various bits next thursday and all the work and checks i had done before the track day! It's like having a child that sleeps on the drive!!!! :D

I want to learn how to change my own oil and stuff - something worth knowing with the track days so i can check all is ok before and after. Will you be doing all those bits yourself?

The bells have tarnished recently and the edges has disintegrated plus the allen bolts have rusted and it is annoying my OCD (along with the flaking brembos).... Plan is to sort them this weekend! Watch this space for photos!

Yep I'll be doing all the stuff myself, have done for ages now, gives you a good feeling!

Think I first did a set of brakes with my Dad when I was 13? Then helped him everytime after that with bits and bobs on the car. And when I got my own car it just carried on...
Always did half-service interval oil changes at every 5-6k miles, just helps to keep everything sweet. Biggest thing I've done on the driveway was a flywheel and clutch swap - lemme tell you something, the 6-speed 02M box in the Leon is one heavy lump to benchpress back in! My Dad gave me a hand getting it in though, guess it was calling in a favour :D

Bit of a bugger about the bells? I can tell those allen bolts will be replaced with some nice stainless steel! ;)

Do they do them wheels any smaller they do look sweet but 18s are a bit big for mine look like a rollerskate. thinkin 16" or 17" would be best for mine

Not a fan of the bras but understand if ya use them for track days only really look good on golfs seen them on a mk3 ibiza cupra and the bra went over the front bumper not really a big fan.
what discs would ya recommend for mine and were would the best place be to order them from.

Just got a price from midland vw for a set of vmaxx coilovers for £475 fitted that inc tracking as well i would say it a good price save me a job. What are vmaxx like good or bad?

Go for the full black visor looks so much better even better if ya have a white helmet.
Like ya said cars swallow money got my mot and tax next month pluse need to tyres and think my bottom arm bushers have starting to knock a bit.

I a very impressed, I wish I could do more with the car but some of it is apprehension at putting my life in my own hands (more so than I do when I drive)... I think i would be fine with oil changes etc but I get a bit nervous when it comes to brakes and would rather leave it to someone who knows what they are doing. I don't really have anyone who can help/supervise me. I suppose what's the worse that could happen!!! :D

I would like to get staainless versions - the current ones look very manky, not happy. I a just about to replace all the wheel nuts as they have tarnished and gone rusty. Why can't things stay as pretty as they look when new!!!!

I am still trying to identify my suspected wheel bearing issue. I have just spent the last hour lying underneath the car with it jacked up and I don't think it is the bearings now. There is no give in the wheels....and it is too intermittent... Plan B!!!

Hi Adam, OZ do the Ultras for 15" upwards. 15" price is around £600 I think for a set of four with tyres. Go to topgear.co.uk - that is where I bought mine from and they are really helpful.

I have had to go with a mid tint visor (helmet is white) as the black one would be impossible to see out of indoors or in low light. I just need to get a head up display in there now like they have in fighter planes - how cool would that be! :D

With regards to discs I would get the best you can afford always, AP Racing are market leaders for a reason with a good pedigree in racing. Mintex, Pagid, the list goes on and I am not the best educated for an opinion - I tend to ask the bloke that does my track day tuition as he has been racing, tutoring and speccing his own for many years.... he is my car bible! If he says no then no it is!!

Not sure about vmaxx, I am still researching into suspension options for mine... but the price sounds good!

I like the vinyl and the debadge on the front - looks really agressive. I bought the honey comb grill to do mine but after 3 hours of trying to get the bumper off and blood everywhere I realised SEAT had ordered me the wrong part!! I was so close to kicking a puppy you would not believe!! I'll post the pictures one day - car looks weird with no face! :headhurt:

Do you have a plan to go on the track with yours? Diesels shame a lot of cars on the track!
