LOL!!! my old 8v would give most cars under 150bhp a very hard time indeed! although they're listed as only 115 bhp with 133lb/ft of torque, mine (blowing exhaust and a chav air filter) made 130bhp and 150lb/ft of torque
and there must be something wrong with the 16v in question. one of my work collegues has a punto gt and he could only just keep up with my old 8v when i was in a hurry, especially on 2nd and 3rd gear corners (peak torque was under 18oo rpm!) and anyone who thinks an 8v is slow either drives a bloody fast car regularly or has never been in one!
i love the sound of the 16v engine, drilled airbox and piperx panel filter is all you need

Thought i'd join in on this debate - personally never driven a 16v so i can't comment on that but i have an 8v cupra and its not slow by any means. Few months back i was working at my friends garage (mostly do grass tracking cars and repairs) and somebody had brought a 'special' in for a big valve head, cam's, custom remap and bike carbs...the engine was a 16v! I can honestly say i've never heard anything sound as nuts as that thing did on the rollers. Theres something wrong with the setup or map of your valver if its not fast and its had those modifications done.

you wonna try doing it on a vauxhall carlton 2.6 straight 6! 6L of oil and 2 oil coolers that need emptying by turning the engine over carefully and then the oil fills up the 4L drip tray and causes an oil slick like i've never seen inland!!
and then they sell oil in 5L bottles!!KIWI16V

What a punto gt could only just keep up with an eight valve ibiza ?? Pull the other one. My 16 valve would'nt stand a chance never mind an eight valve. Im just not impressed with the so called power from mine at all. I am already bored with the ibiza for a few reasons one is the damn clutch is far too stiff, not much power, broken electric morror buttons have been pushed through the dash ( yeah really well made then ) and its just boring to drive. I am going to get rid of it after xmas. Thanks for the replies guys.
Well theres a chance for someone to have abit of a weapon if it all gets set up properly.

Are you 100% sure its a SEAT Ibiza you have ?
I cant help but think you have brought a milk float ???
it cant be running right if its givin you as less thrills as you say ?
maybe have the throttle body off as my old red one was ony running half at one stage and cleaing it made a massive difference.

Tbh the mods you got are not set up correctly! And sounding of the condition of it, it's probably been a cowboy job on it anyway!???

I can only come to the idea that its not running right. I popped my mates focus st in my 16v Dont ask me how. I fink the ibiza is a very good qucik car and for cheap monies aswell. I keep up wiv my mates 200bhp remaped n decated mk4 golf and mine is jus a stanered abf wiv a decat. So theres a good chance it jus needs a good looking at. Ive had to 16valvers now and they both been a nippy car.
