Well i managed to fix the electric window switches now so my passengers can now control their own window. But i have two other problems.

1. When i open the front passenger side door, the puddle light (courtesy light in the door) doesn't turn on. I know it's not the bulb or fuse causing this problem. All the other doors work just fine. The other problem on this door is that if i press the lock button inside the car, the passenger side door locks and unlocks straight away. It also does this if i press the lock button twice on my keyfob.

2. The second problem is that my boot light doesn't work. I have checked the fuses and the bulb and they are fine. If i touch the boot light on some bare metal, the light works until i take it off. Is there a switch i can clean and where is it?

Is there a switch or an earth point i can clean to fix my above problems, if so, where are they?

Thanks very much for your help in advance

I'm guessing you've got a Mk2 by your avatar, so I'm having to make a guess here, on the Mk1 the boot switch is recessed in a hole dead center of the rear bumper bottom bit of the boot;

It's hard to describe this I admit, basically open your boot, look down at your bumper and just above it where the boot would meet the bumper is a recessed hole and a black switch inside.

It *could* be someplace different on a Mk2, but I'm not sure they would have bothered moving it, please correct me if I'm wrong anyone :)

The boot light switch on the Mk.2 Toledo is part of the lock mechanism and can't be replaced separately. Test it first to see if it's the problem.

You mean the actual boot catch that holds the boot closed? Will have a look at removing the mech to see if i can clean it up at all. What's the best thing to use? Atm i have just sprayed it with wd40.

interior light problem

i am having the same problem with regards the interior light activation - but mine is with the drivers door. the door light and interior light fail to come on whn the door is opened. But the passenger door works fine. This all started after replacing the door mirror. All the connections have been checked and work fine, bulb is working also.

Please can someone help!!!

the interior lights arent coming on because a microswitch inside the lock has failed. The fix for this is to replace the door lock, or if your handy with a soldering iron, remove the door lock, dissassemble it and solder in a new switch. as for the boot light problem, there is a switch in the lock mechanism itself, remove the two bolts on the lock and swap it for a new or second hand mechanism.

Funnily enough, my boot light has randomly decided to start working again. The car had been stood a long time so maybe there was just some damp in the boot that needed chance to dry off or something.

Interior light problem

hi,

Thanks for the info on where the switch is. But i am not sure how easy it is to get at the lock and remove it.
I've had a look at the inner metal panel and can't seem to get it out once all the bolts are removed. Do you have to undo the window motor and is there any drilling to do as there appears to be brackets top and bottom that prevent it from coming off.

Sorry if i seem a bit dense.

ntvrman:help:

remove the 10 bolts on the metal panel, make sure the window is up and wedge it up with some cardboard, open the two rubber grommets on the metal panel and loosen the two nuts to detach the window regulator from the glass then take out the two nuts on the side of the lock above and below the latch, prise off the plastic cover on the side of the door to loosen the lock barrel, pull the lock barrel out and unhook the metal wire that goes from the lock to the handle. then remove the metal panel and lock as one by pushing up from the bottom, pulling out the bottom over hte lip of the door and lowering it out.

interior light problem

Thanks for the instructions i'll give it a go - on Monday as i'll need some time to fix it once its off.

Hi,

sorry to be a pain, but having followed you instructions and removed the bugs with the window wedged with cardboard. I don't see any bols to undo for the window runner. But when i try and pull down the panel, the bold comes into view (but the window has moved at this point) - i tried to get a friend to hold the window whilst i pulled it down again - couldn't move it.(should i be able to do so)
Has anyone got any other ideas Please, please, please.
