I am after a bit of noise from my LCR, but don't want to spend much money - if I were to cut the rear silencer box out and replace with a straight through section (hopefully making them interchangeable) would it sound rough and obscenely loud; or would it be a cheap alternative to a cat back aftermarket system? any advice appreciated.
Please don't slate me for being a cheapskate!:)

Just be careful if you go cheap. Often cheap univeral parts have poor fit or rubb on the underside. I'd use the search and see if you can find a few threads about cheaper options.

I've looked in the for sale section and there are only 2 OEM LCR pipes.

i've done a fair bit of searching and not found much relevant, but i guess that might be because its not a good option!

danny, i was looking at getting the center box removed, an i have a decat but was told it wouldnt make much noise difference,

my FRS system only had a rear box on a mongoose system and that was quite loud, popped and banged,

save the pennys mate, once the kart is sorted,

im in the same boat with the cash but goind for custom (mainly as i want it to fit perfect) can get one for £260,

speak to a powerflow dealer or howard and scott,

Remember the most restrictive part of the LCR is the DP and CAT not the rear system, spend your pennies on a DP and Sports/De-Cat much more performance gains than a cat back system.
