the ibiza has a standard cool down setup fitted,would guess the leon has the same
if not still wouldnt bother with turbo timer anyway if it was me.
you'll find that just driving at low revs for first and last 10mins of a journey does a better job than the car sitting still on a turbo timer
hope that helps

Thanks for the advice and some of you have got some good deals it seems, just waiting for something closer my way, should be able to whittle the price of one down as I'll pay cash or cheque so won't be needing there finance services etc.

I had heard the leon has some cool down feature, keeps water pumping around the car for afew mins once turned off.... might invest in a turbo timer as there pretty cheap and some have different uses.

Where have people mounted the boost gauges?

Well, i'm not sure at all how the cool down works on the cupra but i suppose having a second cool down process if i've driven the car really hard and then just stopped is better then just the standard...

I'm sure the Cupra R cool down process is fine but i often stop and start is if i fancy going to the shops and then see a mate suppose its all just real world driving.

Some Turbo Timers can obviously shut your car off after you've left it, start your car up in the morning, limit Revs, have a shift light [I'd use this so i don't go over 2k in the drive to work] and stuff like;

* Auto turbo timer
* Manual turbo timer
* Lap timer
* Temperature in car
* Battery voltage
* Boost pressure
* Peak boost pressure
* Overboost warning

Some can be quite handy but hey, its probably overkill.

fair point but if you get one with all those features then it'll start looking a lil expensive plus can be a pain to fit
plus you've got to make sure its compatable with your alarm as some wont lock and arm while engines on.
oh and if fitted incorrectly the fan wont turn on while the turbo timer is active leading to engine overheating

Yes mate, one with all those add ons doesn't come that's cheap. I know someone who is an auto electrician and he's damn good so I'd use him and he can get the stuff through his business but your right they don't tend to work well with some alarms and immobilisers so i might have to upgrade, something like the toad ai606 and then it doesn't seem worth it :p

Something maybe to look into, but maybe a bit of careful driving will go along way :D

well said mate :)
you'll find the engine the LCR uses is super reliable without being moddified
so although the turbos will fail eventually a turbo timer wont really lenghten its life enough to be benificial

yes mate, i know the engine is used in a host of cars with most having afew different parts here and there.

The LCR uses the K03s doesn't it? how does that make it different from the K03?

Abit of a daft question really but what kinda milage do you think you could get out of a LCR? say its been pretty much looked after but obv had some hard times ;) i would of thought it would be getting tired at 120/130,000?

K03s is used on the facelift cupra's, the LCR uses a K04 turbo ;)

if looked after properly and serviced regulary i would say atleast over 130,000

not sure on which turbo it uses a quick site search would answer your question.heard someone mentioning a K04 but im no expert on it.
life would greatly depend on service history and how well previous owners have looked after it.
dont think iv seen any LCR's over 100k miles however im sure if looked after you could see 130k before major problems start setting in, although the turbo will probably be a bit weak by 100k due to the amount of stress on it.remember they're still quite young cars at the moment which helps.

Thanks for that guys,

Yeh, i have seen one or two for sale over 100, but again all depends on history and type of previous owners.

I doubt i would do over 10,000 a year, probably more like 5 as i just don't need a car unless i'm going out and about for pleasure.. why do i even want/need a LCR? :cartman::p

yes mate :p:)

I either want a LCR or a BMW e46 coupe sport becuase they also look coolio [i think]

Infact they cost about the same and insure about the same so :blink: LCR wins for the mo.

If insurance wasn't an issue then M3 or RS4 would be on my wish list :cartman: dreamer :cry:

on a side note about the insurance i found that your post code can effect your quote drastically. friend recently got a LCR slightly cheaper than mine (but slightly older :p) and he had same no claims/same age, same everything only difference was he lived in manchester and i live in the lake district.

my quote was 630 and his was 1100...

p.s. RS4 is on my list too :p

^^ Yeh true about the LCR and your get more for your money, I wouldn't be able to afford a good quality bimmer [oxymoron? :cartman:] plus on there forums there all about 'engine rebuilds at 90,000' :(

I think the LCR looks more like a car i should drive, the E46 is a little more refined looking and there about as rare as pavements so.

The insurance postcode lottery is great isn't it, i live (or lived) in the 'a' rated area until the floods and that's made it a 'b' rated, although where i live water didn't get anywhere near it and never will but still being labeled 'in Tewkesbury' is what does it.

BTW if you want to see what your area is like for insurance;

http://www.carinsuranceexplained.com/car_insurance_explained/insurance_postcode_risk.htm

A is 'lowest risk'
F is 'highest risk'
