Erm....that's the wrong colour Myki?
Why is it going white? Should I be worried?Or was that the glue?

Today it's been a bit of a coilover care day. Some of you aren't gonna approve with what I've done but I've done what's best for the coilovers.
After seeing how bad the salt had eaten away at my coilovers the other week I decided that work needed to be done (as mine coilovers aren't stainless).
So i went out and bought some of my favourite stuff - engine lacquer! But this time black, not the blue I did my brakes with.
Here's how I found them a few weeks back:
In the cleaning process:
Cleaned them up to find it had done this to the protective layer:
And this to the spring on the passenger side:
After I cleaned them up today:
So then work set about the keep the salt at bay! Droplinks went bright blue, struts went black.

As you can see it's not the nicest finish on the strut but it's more a case of protecting the coilovers than looking nice. You cannot see the strut at all when the wheel is on and the car on the ground so all is well!
Then I used some of this stuff:
Amazing stuff! Can't for the life of me remember what it's called! But basically it's greased covered tape that you can press and mould anywhere. So this is what I did with it:
That will keep the threads perfectly clean from any salt/dirt!

As you can see the callipers are still lovely and shiny! Brilliant stuff that lacquer!
Then I used some of this stuff:

Its so easy to do yourself mate! Seriously! Give it a go!
Get some black suedette and some aerosol glue and take off trims, cover them and put them back!
It's fun too! Hopefully will be getting my other headlining back from Myki soon (as my attempt at that didnt go too well) and then I can get my Cupra interior trims in! Then i want my door trims doing in suede too.

That stuff is called denso tape and plumbers use it to seal leaking stacks and waste pipes.
That's the stuff! I was thinking like Decro or something but Denso is it!

I really like those little touches of suedette, little interious touches always makes the car feel like a nicer place to be. Might give it a go one day pretty sure i would stuff it up though. Where else do you have suedette? ( theres 47 pages to look through for me to find out lol )
The whole headlining is suedette. The trim that goes across the back of the headlining is suedette. I want to do the door trims next. Replace the fabric on those with suedette cos it matches nothing on the car anyway!
Cool yeh you should do the door cards so it matches. Your coilovers have scared me, would this be prevented by buying the more expensive stainless ones then, if yes then if you were doing another car would you spend the extra?
I would have bought stainless if I knew this now yes but even with those you have to keep on top of them and keeping the threads clean. Unless you buy denso tape!
