Is your head unit CD or Tape? I have got the OE tape head unit with 6 disc changer in the glovebox. I bought a tape adapter thing to use the ipod, works really well and sound is crystal clear.

Just plug into headphone socket on ipod and put tape in the deck. Cost £3.99 i think so can't go wrong for the money.

Thanks mate...

Think I will go for a new Head Unit like you say, although im looking at something a little cheaper than that, credit crunch n all!

I've got one of these CLICKY

It's the fore-runner to the x305 mentioned above, and cheaper now as older model.

Very quick response for using iPod, where some solutions can be quite slow.

I love it, plus if you get some money you can hook up an Imprint solution, and make it sound 50x better!!!

Same here, I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality through the tape player - not as good as a CD or proper ipod connection but for the money and ease of fitting I'm happy for now!

You can tell I'm no audiophile but in a clattery diesel like mine most of the subtleties of the sound are lost anyway!

I wanted one of those... but it didnt work with the iPhone, so had to shell out a little more for x305 :(

Me neither, but to me the sound quality is good enough and doesn't loose too much even when turned up or with basey tracks.

For me the best thing about it (other than costing £3.99) is the fact it is not ipod specific so can plug any MP3 player in as long as it has a standard headphone jack. Great for using friends MP3 players/phones etc.:D

laptops... walkmans (old-skool) zip-disk players (if that mythilogical thing even existed...)

I have had the Dension Ice link and although a good job and yes £30 I now have a Pioneer HU with full ipod control and it is night and day difference as far as sound quality goes. Ipod can be hid also so no cradle on the dash. I would defo recommend a new headunit ipod head unit.

It was easier than easy lol

You just have to poke it down the gap at the back and fish it out between the ash tray and the diagnostic connector!

And that headunit has full controls of the ipod, so you dont have to touch the ipod to change the tracks.

And the sound quality is just as good if not better than the standard head unit!

I just baught one of these: http://shop.audioimages.co.uk/sony-cdx-gt44ip-ipod-ready-mp3-cd-car-audio-tuner-p-1097.html

Its brilliant! The ipod is solid wired from the back of the h/u....ran the wire down the back of the centre console into the compartment under the ash tray.

And I have converted the glovebox to have the insert from an audi a3 so there is a decent useable space in there now!

I had a search and you can get it for £69.49 inc delivery from Amazon, from the above link you have to add £10 delivery on it.
