Air vent gauge mount

I have just finished my centre gauge mount, I wanted three gauges but don't really like the pillar pods so needed the come up with something else, and i didn't use the centre vents.....so
I will put it in tomorrow.

How long did it take to make?

It took a day to get it all fitted together and primed, the hard bit is drilling the MDF without it spliting, but worth the hassle, so about a weekend all in with beer breaks.

could I ask how you got the finish? What did you use to get it back to plastic? I could handle the mdf, but getting it to the original finish... Dont know what materials to use.

I thought about Nev's - but I really want 2 gauges I think. Sorry Nev!

I just sanded the MDF smooth and used model making filler and matt black paint, i smoothed down each coat of primer then polished the matt black.

Looks ace Phill, would never have guessed it was MDF. How does it bolt into place?

I tried it in the stereo slot but they are to low down and cant be seen really, thats why i went for the vent.

Seen those before, but the finish on the above is far superior, and more fitting with the interior.

You could do, i might try on the next one i do although they are ok as they are you can see all you need to.
Didn't get around to photo's i also polished it and tbh it didn't work they are now to shiny, so will prob do them again and leave alone.
