hi mate, i just bought my first on saturday. which are you looking for? 225? etc, if so you would be very lucky to get a good one for that. you really need FSH, IMHO this is far more important than milage.

cheers

plus insurance £££

yer insurance is a killer but already got that saved

yer 6k is a low budget after looking so i will probs try save another 1,000 to get a better leon cupra R 225.

not in a rush for one as the clio is doing a good job at the moment so will just try to purchase when enough money is in my pocket for the one i want with the correct miles etc.

do you all like your leons had any problems etc ?

whats FSH and IMHO ?

Also, if you overstretch to buy the car you might have trouble servicing it properly and that's important with a car like this.

Have you looked at a higher mileage Leon Cupra 180 as it might be more affordable?

In My Honest Opinion

I wouldn't buy a LCR if I was you with that little amount of money.
You'd be better off buying a 1.6 16V one that got about 130 BHP.
Get your no claims bonus up a bit. Throught out your owner ship of this car buy bits that fit both cars then when you have a better insurance score buy a LCR and transfer all the bits you've bought

yer looked at a couple 180's but prefere the cupra R not really in a rush to buy so might aswell save for what i want rather than get a 180 and it not be what i really wanted

yer see where ur coming from mate, but if 6k is too less i will just keep saving for a couple off months till i can afford one. i already have two years no claims and just fancy a bigger car for golf clubs etc and something that i can keep for a while

If you can get one you'll love it - but you'll really be looking for about 8K for the car and 1-2k (I'm guessing) for the insurance. Then you'd want to have 1k free for anything that needs servicing (cambelt, brakes, ...)

i no where ur all coming from i am young and its not really an 19 year olds car but they have always caught my eye and i really fancy one, i had to save 6k for my first car and i did it, so im sure i can save 4k for this car then p/x my old one or sell it private. servicing hopefully wont be a problem and if something comes up that there is a problem ill hopefully have the money in the bank as im not really a big spender apart from money going on the car etc. and when i get one if i do IT BETTER Be good ;)

iv gt a 180 cupra pre facelift gonna make itinto a facelift imho i much prefer the look of a facelift than a cupra r i have had mine a year and love it an u can do pretty much everything to it that u can a r anyway just means i have that little bit extra to do lol. so shopping list is facelift it and slam it should look at which kit u prefer i mean obviously the r has better interior ect but nothing that cant be changed with some nice leather s3's alot of people say there isnt any point just save for a r but i like a project.

I wouldn't say 6k is too little. I've been thinking that's the max I'd get for mine if I sold it now.

Mines an '03 210 LCR with 51k on the clock with FSH and in excellent condition.

6k is a ok amount for an R, Kow what your on about wanting a R, i think the normal cupra's look crap.

7k will get you the car your looking for i'd expect, 8k for a R is top price now as you can pick them up from 5k easy.

Ive seen what look like good ones more around the 7k mark. Mine seems very well looked after when i bought it last year with 60k on the clock for 7.5k but prices have dropped further. Have some change ready for bits like brakes, suspension and dare i say engine and stuff going wrong as they can be a bit more expensive to look after.

hi jay, i recently turned 19 and bort ma self a platinum grey LCR(225) on a 53 plate with 54k on the clock with full service history and completly stock and i got it for £5900, so you can get someting decent for 6k although i would have to say make sure you have 1k-1500 just for maintanence as i ve had mine for about 2 months and spent nearly 700 hundred n that was with nothing going wrong jus tax.service, cambelt waterpump, pads and a few other things to make sure the cars running as good as it can. it is a great car though and deffinatly worth it

But to be honest not really car for 19 year old but oh well lol

I know it's a bit nosey and please don't feel obliged to answer but how much is your insurance? I know of 18/19 year olds that pay over a grand for 1.2 Clio's.

hmmm...i bought a cupra R at the age if 19 for 7k just before the credit crunch...so if you could stretch to 7k you should find some decent examples!

if you have a steady income,id say go for it,you will save more money as you go to run the car...i managed to get by after the petrol expenditure calmed down :p

you might not get a 225 model, but in my opinion, there isnt much difference between the 210 and the 225 model...just the age...but as long as the cars taken care of,age doesnt matter.

good luck mate

normal cupras look crap???

thats a slight insult to probably 60% of members...

post facelift imo look more subtle than the r, tuned to 225 is hardly crap...

wolf in sheeps clothing comes to mind pal.

less insurance, less to buy, superbly moddable... great cars, equal to a standard r with the right mods...

crasp isnt a word to use for any cupra.

I bought my first car when I was 20 I passed my test when I was 19, I saved up from June to February to buy myself a Leon 1.6 SE which is my current car. It cost me £3,995 and insurance was £1200.

What was said to me was...'Buy a banger, build your NCB up and save for a better car'
I can see the plus side to that because the savings for an LCR would be much better now than they currently are.
Having considered that though, I wouldnt've changed what I done for the world.
It was the car I wanted, it stamped home to me the value of money and i think was a brilliant experience that i think so many people my age haven't experienced.

My advice would be to go with what you and only you want to do.
