Fitted some new pads last night but had to grind the ends of the pads to just get them to sit in the callipers!!

Has anyone had to do this is this normal???

Further to that what does everyone do to get rid of sensor light on the dash?

Join the sensor wires together - or you can buy proper blanking plugs that do exactly this The way the car knows to flash the brake pad warning is because it has detected a break in the wire - i.e. no wire in the pads to complete the circuit THink you'll need vagcom to clear the error once the ECU has recorded it.

Did you clean out the channels in the calipers that the pads sit in? I wouldn't have thought you would need to grind the ends of the pads down though .......

Yeah cleaned out the clannels completely and even remove tha paint from the ends of the pads but still
far too tight to even hit in with a hammer!!

I'd have taken them back and questioned this bit my old pads were too bad to put back on
so i had no choice but to fit them

As long as they're sat securely in the channels and can move freely in and out without catching / sticking and you didn't have to do major surgery I can't see it being a problem ..... you might want to get a couple more opinions first before using them in anger.

I had the same problem, needed to file the arms of the pads down to stop them sticking on the caliper. Ive probably done about 5k since with some heavy breaking and had no problems. Worryingly enough though this was when i was refitting them and you could see groove marks in the caliper where the garage that i orginally had them fitted at must have forced them in with a hammer, not good!!!

I've had this just about every time ive fitted none OEM pads, provided you're happy the pads are the right ones you'll be fine.
