what cable/software do i need to change mileage on ibiza 1998

hi i bought the vag tacho cable 1.7 and a 2.5 version and when i try and connect to the tacho its says can not connect to ECU kombiinstrument anyone have any idears whats wrong

Wouldn't think you could do it with VAG Com, if thats the software you got. Whats up got different clock have you?

im using vag tacho

We tried to use vag-tacho to recode keys on mine. Absolutely no luck in getting it to communicate properly with the car....

i've also tried vagtacho to try and read immobiliser codes. it just doesn't work.

i can get it 2 read things like that but just wont connect to the tacho to change the mileage

if you still have your old clocks just swap the eeprom, just done this on mine as the new clocks was reading 50k to low.

Is it an easy job to do that?? Im after a set of clocks with a rev counter but I want to keep the mileage to be the same as the one on my current clocks.

its not a bad job if you can solder its just a 4 pin dil chip, what milage do you have? as I have a number of clocks here, if you was closer I would do it for you mate.

the mileage is 74,000 the clock i have got in now show 110,000

It's not illegal.

It's only illegal if you don't inform the buyer when it comes to sale.

@ killer205, did you have any luck with getting the mileage changed?

ive just ordered a vag tacho cable and software from ebay because i need to adjust the mileage on my new clocks, my cars a ibiza 1996 cls,
i dont think mine has an immobiliser if that makes a difference

I had 45000 on my old clocks, recently replaced them with new ones with a rev counter, they're set to 98000, so I need to get that changed
