The Cupra definately has a different turbo. Check out some of the other threads in the TDI section for part numbers if you want confirmation.
 
The Cupra has the Garrett turbo while the other TDIs come with the KKK turbo. But some people report having a Garrett fitted to their FR too.
 
Main two things are turbo and the FMIC. The standard Cupra suspension is cack anyway and will need ARB's/springs etc to make it handle decent, same as what you would do to a FR/Sport.

Filter/de-cat/exhaust system is standard fare what ever car and you would do to a FR or a Cupra.

Brakes are a easy upgrade on a FR. £200 gets you TT/S3 calipers/carriers/hoses and 312mm Mintex disc andpads.

Oh and a remap would be needed for both cars.

Surley £200 TT brakes will never come close to 4 pot AP's.
 
Yea they aren't as good. TT brakes are just larger sliding calipers. No way as good as the AP 4 pot fixed caliper setup.

Neil82 - I wouldn't call the suspension 'cack' either. Sure it will benefit from some aftermarket dampers/springs but it still handles better than alot of other cars.

I've never actually driven a car with 312's but I've got 300mm ST170 brakes on my Focus which are another big sliding caliper and they don't come close to the AP's on my Cupra.

The suspension on the Cupra doesn't seem bad to me (I don't find it anything like as crashy as people seem to make out) but it certainly doesn't feel as good/nice to have a play in as my Focus did with standard (other than Eibach springs) suspension did but I'm looking at doing what I can to improve it - got a SEAT Sport strut brace (for what it's worth) and a Jabba RARB already and plan on getting rear spacers, decent tyres and possibly changing the springs/dampers at some point
 
Well had 312mm brakes on Golf VR6 4 Motion and that had the best brakes I've known.

The AP are fine but the balance is wrong now as they never upped the rear brakes. Plus really really think the AP's will not last the test of time. After 10 years you will all be fitting 312mm TT brakes:headhurt: .. but they are bling so folk like them .. and they are no doubt lighter which is better until corrosion kills them..

yea fair enough it has a bit of roll but as standard its more than substantial.
if you drive it right it looks after you.
so main thing that would be at fault with it is the driver.
if you think its cack then it shows you havent experimented enough with the standard setup to know.
