If you've paid a deposit on the car you want and then the dealer tells you they're changing it... why should you have to pay for the change?

I would be happy that they have told me that theres a new one as I wouldn't want a old model as I would be p.... if they did and I just brought the old one and could of paid a few pounds more and got a new model
 
a few pounds more? i read somewhere that it is likely that it will be £200 more.....obviously this isnt set in stone, but i will not be happy if it is more expensive.

i placed the order for the 1.9tdi, made a deal, paid a deposit, and i shouldnt have to pay more if Seat decides not to make the car which i have already ordered but decide to release a new one with a different engine and expect me to pay more. it doesnt make sense.
 
Well you be better off when you come to sell it in 3 years time, it going to be more ££££ as new, can't see why your upset by it
 
ok how about this, I got 1.9 tdi coming in I can do you a deal on its got big wheels, glass roof climate and tints?
 
Canonman, i get the feeling you're missing the point a bit, it's not about how good the engine is or what things will be like in 3 years time... The crux of the matter is that SEAT are changing the car, and it's not the customers choice, so why should the customer pay? Yes there are benifits, but it's more a matter of principle...


I just spoke to my dealer and he had little news for me, but will be speaking to Spain on monday and getting back to me by Tuesday with some news. He said that i should get the 1.9 not tthe 1.6, and that the 1.6 wasn't replacing the 1.9 just adding more diesels to the smaller car range to match the peetrol options, because diesels in smaller cars are becoming more popoular.

I'd imagine they might eventually release a 1.9 TDi CR probably pushing 130/140PS to give a diesel line up of:

1.4 PD- 80 PS
1.6 TDi CR - 105 PS
1.9 TDi CR - 130 PS

All the small print it does say subject to change. It would the be other way round tho if a customer brought a old 1.9 lump and then the new 1.6 come out the next week after the customer wouldn't be happy

Really thats up to him then isnt it pay the extra for a better car or ask for his money back.
 
Personally I'm well happy to be getting the 1.6 CR than the old 1.9 engine. I'm currently running a 2.0tdi CR 170ps passat and loving the refinement that common rail brings.
Anyway!

Given the 1.6 sport will be a 2010 build year car does anyone know of any other spec changes between the 09 cars and the 10's?

The FR diesel will be a 1.6 TDI CR with 135ps I'm sure.

Don't know how much more they can squeeze out of a 1.6 derv for a cupra version, maybe we will see a 2.0 TDI CR 170 cupra

The Fr petrol has already come to light with a 1.4 TSI 150

The cupra petrol will be a 1.4 TSI 180

i see your point canonman, but its still a matter of principle.

if you went to a restaurant and ordered something, but they came back to you after 10minutes and said no we cant do that, we dont sell it anymore, you would ask to not have to pay anything more for the alternative that they offer you....

at the end of the day, i would be more than happy with the 1.6tdi, but i will not be happy if i need to pay extra. if it comes to it, i will just get a different car.

maybe its a sign telling me to wait for the ibiza FR.....lol got a date for that release?

How does the 1.9tdi that was originally in the new ibiza stack up against the new 1.6 cr tdi? same bhp it seems what about the torque? is it a lower insurance group?

If it's released as a 105ps unit in the sport ibiza, but the FR's going to be a 135ps unit, i presume an engine remap on the sport model will boost output to 130-135?

Same power and torque (i'm sure) but better mpg, more refined, smaller, lighter and probably less road tax. Win i'd say.
