ok on the second pic can you please tell me the numbers on the 8 pin chip in the middle (near the plastic mounting post)

One word of warning once you change the eeprom the rev counter will not read right as it will set for your old clocks, that is of couse if the max is a dif value, if you know what I mean.

having said that - I snapped out the buzzer and pulled out the oil light on mine. Kept flashing...
May I add one thing in addition to this thread? Why is my handbrake light always on? The switch was fine on the old ones...

haha, Llyr, you got told :p
I've already pulled the handbrake light switch out, and when I plugged them in my buzzer didn't buzz lol, so I've kept that in...

GTV the number on the chip is:

B66AG
93C46EN

;) told you not to fiddle Arun haha. Nah I'm kidding! Gutted, so you've lost you mileage and you have a set of Clocks with 98k on them?

lol, you better be....
well now ill have to get my mileage changed another way, i could use them vag tacho cable things if they do what they say on the tin,
get it changed professional which i think costs no less than 50,
try to find dials that have a close mileage to mine but thats a rarity...

for now i think im going to keep noting the mileage so that if i finally come accoss a method of changing the mileage, its correct lol

my god man lol, what a mess! :( ...gutted! 44k is soo low though for a '96 isn't it!? Let's hope you find a solution anyway! Have you asked GTV? He kindly offered me some clocks not long ago?

i'll ask him, hopefully he has something that can help me lol, i emailed the guy selling the vag tacho cables, apparently you can use them to reset the mileage to what you want .......

I've got my MOT at the end of july, apparently they note your mileage :S dont know how thats going to work...

if i can find any mk2 clocks with about 40k they will work because i can try that eeprom thing again, but do it properly without breaking it lol

yeah they just note it on the certificate yeah... nothing special, just as a record. So they know how many miles you do every year?
