Just wondering how easy/hard it is to strip callipers down for cleaning?

Im going to be carrying out a complete brake overhaul on the Cupra early next month and want to strip down the Brembos to make sure there clean and working properly.

Can it be done DIY, or am I best taking them to a specialist?

Cheers!

have a search for danny lad's thread on his willwoods. There was an explenation of how you can pop the pistons out with a footpump, allowing you to change the seals.

As for stripping the callipers of paint; sandpaper is your friend. If you want to go to bare metal put a scotch brite tool on a drill and strip it like that.

Thanks Reuvers, just taken a look.
Will use the foot-pump method then! Hopefully the seals will be ok!

use nitromous to get paint off the calipers best way ive used and less hastle, seals and dust seals for brembos are very expensive think i paid 120 for the lot will try and dig the company name up for you!

Also Alex make sure the all the components are spotless before reassembly and it is done in a clean environment ( Kitchen floor works well if you wait for the girlfriend/ wife to go out lol)
