can anyone suggest any ways of improving the performance of my seat ibiza 1.2s

its the 3 cylinder 64bhp version. i know its the least powerfull and im not expecting it to be a cupra standard or anything but a little bit of zing would be nice. i love the car and dont want to buy a newer faster car if i can give mine some tlc and do some work on it. any suggestions would be great thanks :)

nothing at all? i heard of some people about panel filters or relocating the battery to the boot. is it just not worth it?

if i buy another car it will be an ibiza. what spec is worth buying to mod up a bit?

thanks

I no its not what you want to hear but not worth doing anything to the 1.2 i had one before i put a pannel filter in it and an cat-back exhaust on it Made it a bit more free reving at the most...

really the best i would advise you can do is work on the handling and breaking mods to carry the speed through the corners...

Basicaly the bigger your engine to begin with the more your going to make out of your mods so a 1.4 would make more than 1.2 and a 1.6 more than a 1.4 and so on...

But for the ideal platform id only recomend the cupra versions really as they are so easy to get more power from...

can i get hold of one that hasnt been ragged by a chav tho? i looked at cupras but they all have bucket seats and what have you bla bla bla i just want somethin i can tinker with the engine. mk3 cupra you say?
il look into it. how much would it set me back would you say?

search on here mate in the for sale section, plenty of good examples about and best buying like somewhere off here because you know there been looked after Anything from 4k upwards

it will be in about 2 years. about 6 grand. if i haave a scratchcard win i want the new leon cupra k1!!! haha

I think its more of a visual thing mate...

some people prefer the curvy look of the mk4 more than the ruler designed mk3...

but the mk4 cupras are good motors not really overkeen on the looks of them tbh i prefer the more box shape motors...

In 2 years i'm sure you'll get something nice for that in a mk4, you may be able to get a tidy cupra

I'm pretty much in the same position as you, i absolutely love my 1.2 but it can be slow when you've got passengers. I'm waiting til next year then going to look for a mk4 FR/Cupra PD130. these cars are completely in a different league

if you want to enhance the performance i wouldnt go very far as you cant get much out of the 1.2. you could try a new airfilter, that'll give you a tiny boost. some people may dissagree with me here but you may find super unleaded makes a little difference, when i put some in mine i find it easier to over-rev so it must make a difference.

thanks! i tired super unleaded and i found the same. i might look at getting a panel filter. also i have a fuel saver off the internet. any opinions on these? i cant find the pipe to fit it to. if you have the same car could you possibly post a pic of your engine bay and point it out? thanks very much for the advice. i didnt know there were sooooo many seat owners! i think this forum is great. i am a complete novice when it comes to improving and modding but this site will really help :)

i have a cone filter for my 1.2 s but when you take the engine cover off there are a couple of tubes connected to it which i presume have an airfeed from the airbox. if i wanted to fit this cone filter what do i do about these 2 tubes if i remove the airbox? i know like.......nothing about cars to be honest. any help for this novice would be appreciated!
