mines fine if i jump it off another car, but as soon as i take the leads off the car im jumping it from, it starts revving itself and lights flash frmo everywhere pssible and things go dim.
Anybody know what the cahncs are of it being the alternator? I was told it would be because thats not keeping the charge properly...?

see, mine is different, proper disco when tyring to start itself, but perfectly fine when jumped, leads off runs fine, driven 45miles over 2 days with it needing jumps to start whenever i stop the engine...

Yeah mine looked ok too if not a bit dry, make sure you clean alll old grease off and white corrosion then slap loads of vasaline on them.

will do.

thanks.

like i said as long at the alternator is putting out 13-14v when its on then the battery will be fully charged. a battery is 13v not 12v as the reason why i said to check if its below 12.6 or 12.7(may seem fine if its in 12v but this is low from what it needs to be)

if the alternator is giving the correct current then the battery will be getting its charge.

if when the car is off and the power is going then there is an earth leak or something somewhere down the line. this is the reason you need to put an ampmeter in it to find out what is draining.

also cranking power of a car requires alot of amps and if the amps are drained then when starting it will suck the life out of the battery.

this'll make you laugh.

battery terminals.

seriously.

couldnt find a problem, couldnt see a drain, the guy lent on the live cable an it fired up fine!

original problem was a crap battery, then me not cleaning the old corrosion off them for the new battery!!!

cleaned out corrosion and vaseline'd

will let you know if issue re-appears.

Get hold of a multimeter, if your getting 14v accross terminals the alternator is fine.

read back through what i have said and this will tell you what to look for. and this is how you will find out what is wrong
