I have played with over 12 rolling roads across the UK and I have found to take fly wheel HP with a pinch of salt. One DD dyno gave a 164 wbhp and 205bhp at the fly, if we are working on 15% lossess then the fly bhp should have been close on 190bhp?? Then another DD rolling road and another car gave 187wbhp and 217bhp at the fly? Using the maths from the 1st DD dyno of whbhp / 0.8 = fbhp then the 187whbhp should have made 233bhp at the fly not 217bhp? Both dynos ran in shoot out mode and the cars both Golf mk4 AUM 5 speed.

The rolling road I use will give the same wbhp time after time, but the coastdown can vary up to 8bhp on the same car

We need to be looking at the wheel bhp and the exact wheel bhp gains, plus we need to take in to account the correction factor one correction will give a uncorrected 200bhp wbhp 202wbhp corrected and another factor could give 206bhp corrected.

I found the following links which are really helps getting your head around this dyno stuff.

http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/coastdwn.htm

I can comfirm the gear cost down in 3rd, 4th 5th & 6th can differ from 19bhp in 3rd gear to 43bhp in 6th gear. The power run in 5th gave the most realistic coast down result on a stock Leon 150pd.

An few more links

Not my write ups, just wish I could do a write up like them but I am crap at putting what I know in to text, I was gifted with a good gob..lol

And a really good write up from JKM http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/dynotesting.htm

Ben

pinch of salt req'd for every occasion and input.

What do you reckon to the requested fuelling in 031, Bill?
too lean... up to 4krpm
I would want to see 0.90-0.95 under throttle until we see some boost produced and then wind to 0.80.

its too lean on its initial spool imho.

CF's are too high on that first log.,.. nasty

Ok, cause my own LCR does indeed follow requested lambda, but from what your guys are writing, I also have problems with the values, but the car have like zero CF across the cylinders.

Have you contacted Damian again, Richard?

Yep just said he has spoke with OC.T who do the re-maps and can not really up the fuelling anymore that it has been? And that all the settings are done by OC.T and then just sent over loaded on to what ever car and he just tweaks them where needed….

don’t what people to think I am having ago far from it Damian is a really nice guy just want my car sorted and running how it should be

Did mention that’s it’s the ECU requesting the fuelling but Damian and OC.T said if it was the map then the torque would have been effected?

Sorry, I can't see that! The right hand column, requested fuelling, is what the map specifies...

map is plain wrong as is what he said

Sponsor or not - he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about...

Suggest you get it cleared off, back to stock & visit somewhere with proven code (OCT is good stuff normally)

But he should have already pushed this back onto his code suppliers - but I guess if he's not technical enough, he won't be able to convey what the problems are.

You're spoiled for choice for alternates, there's no need to drive a poorly tuned car.
