20vt running bad...Check your plugs

My golf has been running bad for ages, did all the usuall checks, even got a new maf.

i totally discounted my plugs as i fitted them a mere 7k ago.

so after all my testing and logging it turned out to simply be the plugs,.

It had all the so called symptoms of dodgy maf ,

just thought i share my experience

hope this may help someone else.

Glad you pointed this out matey, i was about to but a new MAF tomorrow! I've been searching, but can't find where to buy the BOSH maf off the shelf? Euro car parts do one called a PWM Air Flow Meter, does anyone know if it's any good?

the one i got wasnot a vw item. and it works just fine. Have kept my original though as it wasnt to blame.

I am gonna keep it and do some comparisom logs with each fitted.

to see if there is any difference .

Mate if your wanting a new MAF Sensor your better going to the main dealer as they take money off your new one if you hand back your old one.

Hello Rev's, bit of a stranger of late! I unplugged my MAF earlier and it seemed to boost ok so think I'm guna replace it anyway. I'm running Audi TT plugs atm and have been good for the last 10k but think they could do with a change. Going for Denso IK22's, anyone know where I can buy them off the shelf?

Went to check it out with them today and I've been quoted £89.01 with tax. Wasn't quite expecting that so I'm guna check out online for a better price. He said it would 'apparently' cos over £200 if i were to buy it without the exchange!

I think i may change my plugs in the morning as my car seems to splutter round 4.5k.
Slightly off the subject i did some logs this evening & i was hoping somone could make more sense of it than me as im not 100% sure if my car is ok from reading the log...

what gear did you use is it std or mapped,

a stg 1 mapped agu should be 150-160 mass flow at peak

Only buy genuine Bosch MAFs.

FYI, dont bother logging 031 and 032. We have narrowband sensors so the info you log is next to useless.

002, 003, 020, 114, 115 and 118 are the golden ones, one or two at a time, preferably in 4th, but third will do.
