As the title says, dual mass or a single mass flywheel?

just your opinions on the matter?

which would you guy and girls go for?

Cupra Tdi 54reg and upgrading with a sachs performance clutch.

depends wat you want the car for! if you going to commuting, travelling and lots of milage i would go for the dual mass! if your going for a track car or if its a second car go for the single in my opinion!

I use it every day, sit in traffic some of the time and do more than average miles. Basically i use it for the business.

Only reason im asking is because once i've got the clutch fitted im going to get it remaped. Will a dmf last with around 340lb ft of torque? Don't want to buy one and then have to replace it in a year. Want it to last a long time.

i have 360 lbft and dont have a problem! the car does occasionally shudder when all the torque kicks in but i dont see it being a problem! i put a new flywheel on at the same time as changing the clutch just for piece of mind although i dont really think i needed too!

as for the noise, to stop it you have to keep your foot on the clutch which weakens the release bearing, and although its a cheap part to change it still means gear box out to repair!

search on you tube for it and you will find a clip of a gold running with the horrendous noise totally put me off people would stare and think the car is broken!lol

Yes i agree with aimez the video of the golf is a real eye opener :-o

There is no way i could live with that clatter it sounds terrible.

my fly is a dmf and has lasted 2yrs with 380lbft.

STILL waiting for my clutch to be fitted and a fresh dual mass is going in

my diesel Cupra's got an SMF; I do 100+ miles a day, it's fine and you get used to and stop noticing the noise very quickly, who cares what other people might think anyway. besides which you're driving a PD not a smooth petrol V6...:D

I've already seen the video and i agree it is VERY loud and probily something that would annoy the hell out of me if it was my car. But thats just one car and its a golf, not a ibiza Haven't seen a video of a mk4 ibiza cupra tdi yet. If anyones got one that'd be more usefull?

If a dmf one lasts 2years and doesn't brake, (assuming it didn't brake stebbi?) i cant see point having one that makes a louder noise in the 1st place. Although i'm still thinking about it.

So has anyone got or seen a video of a Ibiza Cupra Tdi with a smf in it? Would very much like to hear how loud it is on one of my own cars.

I have a Hybrid Ibiza FR with single mass flywheel and i must admit the noise is annoying to start with but you soon get used to it. I will try and get a video done of clutch noise when i get home.

it's certainly not quiet, but to me the difference between dual mass and single mass is like the difference between petrol and PD engine - it's just something you (fairly quickly) get used to and stop noticing. until I have to move my brother's girlfirend's V6 Vectra and need to blip the throttle to check it's actually running...:D

doesn't sound any different to me. Sounds just like my cupra tdi. Might have to go with the smf if it only sounds like that. was that with the clutch out or not? not got a video with you putting clutch in and out to show the sound difference?

i know im a pain. ha
