never needed to fill with oil between services (rather never had a warning light to check the oil level)
There isn't a warning light to check the oil level... the light only indicates that low oil pressure is detected meaning there's probably little/no oil in the engine and damage will already have been done by that stage. At least, that's my understanding. You should check your oil using the dipstick every month or so I reckon.

That said, maybe your car uses less oil than my FR? Mine has drunk 6 litres in top-ups over its first 26k miles... which seems like quite a lot to me.

I checked my oil the other day and it is still just below the max level. It's the 1st time i've checked it since my 10k service 6 months/7.5k ago.

I've read about people's cars drinking the oil but mine hardly seems to even use it!

2006 2.0 TDI Sport. 112,000 miles in 3 years. the old girl only let me down once. wouldn't start in the morning if you left it parked facing uphill! sorted under warranty, faulty injector seals apparently. Otherwise sound car.

08 15k miles now. Done 5k in 6months its not commuting, just me driving miles on a weekend enjoying the cupra! Been in to replace rear tweeter, and going back in for squeaky brakes when its half term. Nothing major . Touch wood.

Ahhh ... okay, well I've not had that light on :D

Never checked the oil .... not a single time.

Jan 2010 FL Cupra - 4500 miles.

no major problems yet. but the drivers side map light keeps going faulty. ive been into the dealer and they said they would replace it under warranty if they can see it not working. but each time i go into show them, the sodding thing works perfectly making me look like a fool !! :(

and recently my drivers seat has developed a squeaking/clicking sound. the wierd thing is, is that if i move about in the seat to try and make the sound i cant do it, but it makes the noise each time i go round a roundabout/corner. not told the dealer yet, but ill be going in next week to see what they say!! wish me luck !! :D

Good luck with that mate, nice motor you have, good variation of mileages and interesting assosciated problems, Has anyon got an fr with over 100k??

leon fr diesel 56 plate 66038miles, blew two injectors down to remap at 49k, tyres, but that is down to 390lbs of torque:p that about it

I have a 06 plate TFSI, 65k on the clock, I think the clutch maybe on the way out, but that is the first problem.

I've just got my old company car back for a week while I sort myself out with an inbetweeny car until my Cupra R turns up in October :D My old company car was/is a 2007 FR TFSI which is now on 77,000 miles. It's never missed a beat, as you can imagine being a company car it's been thrashed within an inch of its life by various different people and besides it's services, it's never been back to a dealer for anything.

Great fun little car!!

Sorry to bring up an old thread but im shocked hoe many problems these cars have :( I really really want a k1 but this is putting me off big time...are they really that unrealible? I want one for the odd track day and its between the k1 focus rs mk1 or focus st...am I better going for the fords?

HAHA with a question like that then yes... please go ford ;)

Sorry mate I hope u didn't take my post in the wrong way...as I really want a k1 and im after advice..is this thread a representation of there reliability or are these not very common horror storys

from the 4 posts i have read i cant comment.

is teh K1 reliable yea as much as any other car.

ABS Pump if hasnt already been done will need doing at some point mine went at 36k £300 or £400 i think but Seat are now doing these under warrenty so not much to worry about

Oil consumption is 50/50 some do some dont just have to keep an eye on it

this thread is 3 years old so a lot of this stuff really isnt relevant now

So all this stuff would have probably been done now if I brought a 58plate. ...you pleased with yours?...any other commen fault?

love mine. i had ABS like i said. clutch went after a stage 1 map so fitted uprated one.

get 34mpg if i drive sensibly

great car

how much you got to spend?? and does it have to be a K1?

Hi Readie, I have had my 57 plate TDI FR for nearly 3 months and not had any issues yet. Only thing i have done is cleaned the EGR valve as the car was stuttering.
