So yeah, went to test drive one yesterday and put a deposit down today :D could have picked it up this Saturday apparently but I'm away so picking it up the following weekend.

Its yellow, leather seats, and apart from that I think its all standard FR stuff.

EDIT: here are some pics now that I've got it!

what was the test drive like? i keep meaning to find 1 to test drive,
not guna swap my petrol one mind just want a go in 1 lol

gone for 3 or 5 doors?

Gone for the 3 door, and yeah the test drive was good - steering a little lighter than I would like but I guess that is the same no matter which engine you get. Loads of torque in the low gears, 5th and 6th gear weren't that strong but I guess that is to be expected. Wasnt originally planning on getting leather trim but after getting in the demo car that did have leather I thought it makes it feel so much nicer and luckily the yellow FR that they had in stock (which is the one I've bought) also had leather.

Picked the car up today, edited pictures into the original post ;)

First impressions are all good - only one thing I'm not keen on (and its very minor) is that the door handles on the inside that you pull to shut the door are closer to the front of the door than the rear so it takes quite a bit of effort to close the door as you dont have much leverage, if that makes sense... but it hardly matters and I'm sure I'll get used to it.

It is probably the nicest drive out of every car I've ever owned (including the Audi A3 I had a few months ago) because the suspension is firm enough to make it handle well but not so firm that you feel like you are getting bounced off the road in really bump sections. I used to have an MG ZS and the suspension on that was really hard so it cornered great on perfectly smooth roads but on 'real' country roads you couldnt actually go that fast round corners because the wheels struggled to grip as they were getting thrown around so much. The new Ibiza feels like it would be the same as the suspension is pretty hard, but I took it down some roads that I used to go down in the MG and could go round corners about 10 mph faster in the Ibiza and thats without pushing it too much as the tyres are still brand new and obviously I'm being fairly careful with the car as its only a day old!

Had a little bit of a race with my ex girlfriend in her Mk 4 Ibiza (1.9 TDI 130) and I think hers is a tiny bit faster... which is all the more reason to get mine remapped soon :D lol

Hey mate well done on your purchase! Beautiful car you have:)
As i said in another post, the CR 140 dosnt quite have the punch of the 130 PD, i think a lot of it is due to the nature of the power delivery, but again the 140 CR FR is a beauty of a car, and with leather it'll be even nicer:) Remap time!

A mk4 pd130 is faster? :(

It certainly wasnt a massive difference and it wasnt a proper drag race from stand still or anything, just following each other round some country roads and she seemed to pull away a little down the straights. Maybe thats just because I'm not used to the handling / grip of this car yet and the tyres are still brand new so wasnt taking the corners as fast as I might do in a few weeks time (therefore not getting a decent run onto the straights). I know when I'm in her car there does seem to be a bit more of a pull as the turbo kicks in but she says when she is in my new car it feels faster than hers, so they are probably pretty much the same... until I get the remap that is :D

19 tdi FR mk4 0-62 9.1 sec top speed 129mph
2l tdi FR mk5 0-62 8.2 sec top speed 129mph

Perhaps this is another good example of 0 - 60 times not really reflecting how fast the car is for 'real' driving. Fair enough if I have a drag race with someone in a PD130 then maybe I would win but it seems that for usable power when already moving the PD130 is a tiny bit better. Having said that, I would still rather have this Mk 5 Ibiza any day as it is a much nicer drive, far quieter, has much less vibration from the engine, looks nicer inside and out, and I think gets better MPG than the PD130 :)

I'd guess your engine is still a little tight, a few more miles under your belt and I bet the performance will improve a little.
