Hi all

Been scouring this forum for a couple of weeks and have just picked up my new wheels today.

A 2001 Seat Leon Cupra, Silver (will post pics when poss!) Car seems great, has a full service history, cambelt just done and 75k on it....very happy!

Ive invested in the Vagcom software and cables so i can keep track of any issues, running it this evening i have 2 fault codes

17705 Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)

17544- Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean

im hoping the first is just a DV issue...i have a new forge 007p on order, so will replace and hope that sorts it.

The second error im not so sure on, any ideas?

Something that may or may not be related is that the temp gauge on the dash seems to have a mind of its own, car starts fine, after a few mins its nicely up to 90, never goes over.....but occasionally it drops back down towards 60.....always finds its way back to 90.....but i just found that weird...is this usual?

Anyway, thanks for any help you may be able to provide, i'm activley looking as well

Cheers

Ross

Welcome mate..

The 007p is a brilliant 1st buy btw, well done :) But you have got a leak in boost pressure there somewhere.

The 2nd sounds more fuel related, being too lean. Do you run it on super unleaded? I may well be completely wrong though as I'm not 100% on the fault codes.

As a rule though, these Cupra's and Cupra R's SHOULD imo be run on high octane fuels.

Cheers both of you for the quick replys.

I know the car has been using plain old unleaded for a while, however when i picked it up today, it got a full tank of V Power, maybe that'll help, i'll read up on the other suggestion as well though.

Whats the best was to check for a boost leak? im guessing its going to be a two man job, unless theres a very obvious hose off!

Many thanks again

Ross

Visual inspection of all your hoses and boost leak tester ;) I'll try find the diy kit thread for ya mate

hahhaha jesus, its like the A-Team around here....!

Thats a real help, will try and have a crack at that over the weekend. Last question, i have no engine management lights on, car seems to drive ok.....those two faults arent too serious are they?

Boost leak may cause limp mode I think and if it's your lamber then I did 3000 miles without my number two ;) so I'll think you'll be fine matey

And sam & mark A-team or just spend to much time on here

again cheers guys, really helpful stuff, will give the engine a thorough going over in the morning.

I'd also take od jubilee clips and Make sure the pipes are on properly and replace the clips nice and tight :D

yeah apparently i'll need those as well when i replace the DV...stupid question.....wheres the best place to buy a load? Halfords etc?

Yea halfords eBay or you can bribe your local garage ;) Get a 00p ;) there the best

the fluctuating temp gauge will near on 99% be the coolant temp sensor, if it hits 90 then drops to 60 visa versa, have a look between the battery/airbox and the right had side of the engine. you'll see a sensor with 4 wires connected via a block with a plastic horseshoe clip holding it in to a plastic y section of pipe,

if its black its the oem one. you'll be best replacing it with the green updated one, this should solve that issue, can be had new for a tenner on fleabay
