Just though i would give an update of my car. Nearly 3 months old and 3500 miles on the clock. Lots of town driving and still no DPF light. The car does regenerate itself quite often, when it regenerates the car engine is louder at idle and almost shakes the car slightly with its uneven idling.
The funny thing is, it does regen cycles nearly everytime i go on a longer faster motorway journey. Driving at 70mph clogs it up quicker and the car has to do an active regen even though i have had plenty of miles at 70mph to allow a passive regen. I can tell if it is doing an active regen as revs are high when i idle at traffics lights once i have left the motorway.
Fuel economy seems to be improving by around 10%. Quite easily get 55 mpg around town. 70 mph mpg is still the same as town driving though. Baffles me, as motoryway mpg has been miles better on all my previous used cars. I am going to be patient and see if it really does take 10 - 20 000 miles to break in this new engine. Fingers crossed my 1.6 tdi cr will be able to do 70 mpg on long journys.
