How did you get insured on a FR when you was 18.When i was 18 i had a 106 1.1 the insurance was £1400 a year.It went well theo used to beat most my mates with there 1.4 fiestas lol

Cause Im awesome at getting good insurance quotes!!! I paid 1200 when i was 18 and like 900 this year at 19 in my name! But it is a TDI too. My 1.8 mazda 323 was more expensive than this to insure :p

i no im a bit late on the uptake of this thread, but, yeh hooked.

I've had 3 Mk4's now, an 04 plate 1.2, o8 plate 1.4 100 and now my 56 plate FR and i just wont change this one for a while to come. They annoy the crap out of me but i love it all the same, spent waay to much time money effort, spilt so much blood over them i could feed dracula for a week, yet i cant part with it, drove my parents cars for a week, test drove a load of other hot hatches (abarth 500's vxr corsa's, type r's golf gti's etc) and yet i just wanted to be back in the beefa, theres something about it that still puts a smile on me face lol even after everything ive gone through. probably why i called the latest one christine :cartman:

I exactly agree with above!

I have driven many warm/hot hatches

Corsa SRi Diesel (C + D)
Ibiza FR TDi
Ibiza Sport
Fiesta Zetec S
Mini Cooper S
Fiat Punto 1.9 multi-jet
Citroen Saxo VTR + VTS
Clio 1.6
Lupo Sport

forgot the rest!

I must be addicted to these Mk4s somehow, all my mates (I'm 18, so many mates have been getting first cars lately) have been getting Puntos and Clios, then I turn up and break the mould with the Spanish thing.

And I continue to spend money on making it look better. Mum & Dad are getting hacked off I think... "ohh why can't you leave it as it is?"

Everyone bangs on about the rattles these cars have, I've got no interior rattles, just a super annoying suspension rattle. And it isn't the bushes, they've been replaced with Cupra jobbies!

My old Skoda didn't rattle, it was like sitting in a library. Just a shame I couldn't afford to insure it! :censored:

loving this bigging up of the skodas blanco!! im generating a small crowd who are bigging them up, hate how people are trying to slag off skoda when its as much part of the vag company as any other make, ahwell people are small minded i guess

I'll be honest with you Scott mate, people are the same. Ibiza owners that haven't owned a Skoda just don't get it.

My parents have an A6... all the Pissrat owners say their car's the same and just as good... they're not. Mechanically they are but that's as far as it goes.

It's not small minded, it's an opinion Scott. I hate 5 doors for one and because everyone else will look and think 'urgh skoda' because of their rep before v.a.g bought them out this would just make me choose the Ibiza fr or even try find the pd130 polo that they did in limited numbers. I was all for getting a polo gti after my fr but the cupras are just so much better specced and cheaper, it would be silly to pay an extra 3k for a worse specced car, it wasn't me been boring or narrow minded. I don't think you would get bored of an fr if you have stuck out a 1.2 for so long. The fr is a completely different beast, as is the cupra to the fr. I'd say just go test drive the options and get whatever you want with your money. If you want a vrs then fair enough, knowones particulary trying to sway you, just giving their opinions. End of the day, all the same cars, except the 5 doors. Just depends on budget

i must admit i dont like 5 doors either,

i love my ibiza fr although ive had abit of bad luck with it, someone scraped my rear bumper whilst parked up, and on friday gone i went to meadowhall with a mint car, came back to see someone has scraped all the paint off the front bumper :( so another trip to the bodyshop,

but apart from that i love it, i nearly bought the white cupra tdi that was in the showroom but couldnt get insured due to points and an accident so i went for the fr and havent looked back plus it was the first kandy white mk4 FR in the country too which made me happy, all i want for it now are some cupra alloys and coilovers, money has been tight over the last 2 yrs due to building a corsa z20let with a good spec paying for a wedding and moving into my first house, but now they are out the way i can treat my car to some much needed goodies and attention, roll on 2011

oh they are quick mine has 301bhp, with more to come, but thats a toy/track car, my ibiza is my every day car, and tbh id rather drive the ibiza day in day out

Ive a 1.4s mk4 and tbh, i think its good :) Completly standard atm and its a great first car when your only 17 like me :)

My cars only got 38,000 miles on her, went through 2 turbos (on it's 3rd now), numerous other things breaking but i still can't bring myself to get rid of it. It's either addiction or stupidity for me. lol

Having said that about two hours after postin my car is f****d goin in for diagnostics tmz think it's missfirein lack of power and runnin very unsmooth.. Hope it's summit Minnor like coil pack!!! =@ today I hate it lol

Replaced coil pack on cyl.3 n it's sorted now am back to loving it lol

good stuff =]

is yours cupra or FR?

just interested as I like 215bhp on stage 1 :D
did cone filter make massive difference over boxed-in intake? (forgot the word lol.. enclosed?)

Na mines just the fr... Tbh it was just purely sound before the map, haven't had the standard filter on it since it's been mapped but guess it does make quite a difference as the fr intake is quite restricted (compared to cupra) when I got it map'd bloke said it was a strong map, he gave me on the road figures from his comp of 215hp and 250lb-ft torque he said that's within 5% accuracy, wanna get it on a rollin road be interestin to see. Does go tho =D

I have the 1.4tdi - 80hp version. I think it's a good car, not planning of selling it. drove it over the 60000miles mark ,this week (car was new in may 2008) and I must say , it never let me down...best car I've owned was my arosa mk2 1.4! I miss that car.it was fast!
